PLU is screwed  :D

New cut block rules...actually don't look like they will change much, all you have to do (as a WR/RB) is get in front of the defender, unless they are facing towards the "nearest sideline" then you can cut away!

Taunting rules are stupid...let em play! At least put in a weight allowance, ie if you weigh more than 300 lbs you can dance as much as you want because a)this is the only time you will ever score b)everyone loves when the fat guy dances

You forgot the corollary: if a 180 lb guy taunts a 300 lb guy, don't bother with a flag.  The punishment will occur naturally! ;D

I have a Linfield playoff question from the past I'm hoping someone could help me with. In the 2005 home game versus Occidental, the Wildcats had the ball around the Oxy ten yard line or closer. The 2005 Wildcats had a great offense, but their running attack wasn't as productive as the 2004 club. At this point in the '05 game, the Tigers did something unique on at least one down.

When the ball was snapped, the Tigers defensive line did not rush the passer. Instead, they dropped into coverage slightly, joining the linebackers and secondary, who must have been near or in the end zone. I'm guessing the down and distance led Oxy to think Linfield wasn't going to even think about running the ball.  From what I remember, Linfield scored on a TD pass anyway, so this tactic was unsuccessful.

For anyone who was at this '05 game or was listening on the radio, is this account true?

I actually checked the local McMinnville newspaper, and yes, Occidental did drop all 11 defensive players into coverage in that 2005 playoff game. It was a second down play, and Brett Elliott hit Brandon Hazenberg for a 12 yard TD near the end of the first half.

Steel,

Here is the video on that play in question.

Just a note: That's my son (75) playing left guard on the play. From the video I shot, and in 11's you can see him motion to Brett with his right arm as he yells "RUN!" back at him. With no one to block the route to the end zone was wide open. Those o-line guys always want a rushing touchdown. Elliott decided to throw across the field, to his left, for a TD. That play was very entertaining to say the least.

ADvantage Catdome = 2005 Linfield vs 2009 Linfield.  Who do you got?

Hey 11,

That was a very enjoyable article, could you ask Chris to do another dream matchup next? Contrast of styles makes for intriguing matchups, so what about the 1992 Wildcats versus the 2003 Wildcats? Since he is a 1993 grad, it would be interesting to read his analysis.

R U kidding me?!

Goosebumps and tear ducts.

That played before every game? Teach me to hang outside socializing when I could get even more revved up for walking the sidelines.

Really, really like the effect of the steps inside the stadium.

You've come a long way, Baby.

Wow 11, this is another incredible scoreboard feature once again.  You've outdone yourself.  Maybe this year i'll get to see the 2011 intro on the board itself and not have to wait until after.  Thanks again!
