I think it's a combination of things...both Willamette and PSU needed a game close. I think it will be interesting to watch the game. I think PSU's size and speed will overpower Willamette, but "ya have ta play the game!" Also Speckman was one of the finalists for the PSU Head Coaching Position, so I'm sure he'd like to show off some stuff, just don't think he'll have the horses to pull it off.....probably a good money thing for Willamette for sure and I'm sure the Willamette players will find it a nice challenge to look forward to. I'll probably head up to see it after the Linfield game....

I liked Speckman's quote,  "Because we have had no success in getting a Southern California Division III school to agree to play us, we still needed to play a game on the West Coast," Speckman said.

Seems any phone call from the Northwest goes unanswered in Cali.

Yes, I guess why not? I think it will be a great opportunity and experience for the players, even if Willamette is probably outsized and overmatched as you say.  Heck Dayton and San Diego have played the Ivies on occasion from those levels by contrast and other DIII schools play some DII scholarship schools on occasion (and, of course, the FCS non-scholarship programs on a few occasions as well), so it will be an interesting afternoon I'm sure.  Anyway, good for them.

The SCIAC is too busy scheduling top ten teams in Linfield & North Central. Cry to someone else who cares Coach Speckman.

Busy is the prime word there since a busy signal is the only thing Linfield hears when they try to call Redlands to schedule a game.

I'm having trouble figuring out the defensive comment RFB.  Seems to me Speckman's quote was true and accurate.  He would have been asked why Willamette didn't schedule a DIII opponent and, since Willamette needed to schedule a West Coast school, he had to give an answer.  Might as well put it in the press release. The SCIAC is perfectly free to schedule whomever they like.

It doesn't look like the SCIAC is TOO busy scheduling Linfield and North Central as Linfield has 2 SCIAC opponents and North Central has one.  With seven teams in the league the SCIAC isn't exactly killing themselves with top ten competition.   (Except Linfield should beat the socks off anyone from the SCIAC.)  :)

That's why Whitworth had to play UW Stout instead of getting UWW...It's a Presbyterian thing

I'm sitting in a hotel in Laramie, Wyoming in the shadow of the U of Wyoming football stadium. I think it's the right job and the right time to move from the northwest... can't seem to get excited like the locals about the brown and gold Cowboys... thankful for a Cats' Eye View subscription!

Might have to change the handle from PA Cat to... Cowboy Cat?... Cold Cat?... Hope the Internet is Always Up and Running on Saturdays Cat?...

Brett Elliott is holding his own leading the Georgia Force 34 to 24 lead over the Orlando Predators in the second half.  He has thrown two picks though so far in the game.  He still has the rocket arm.
