Three things real quick:

1. I agree with Kingsman4's post concerning asu and nike. (Except for the go LU part ;) )
2. The pop-up at the top of the page for Lahaina Shores Resort; My wife and I stayed there last week. Awesome place!
3. While eating dinner at my sister-in-laws house in Kona (went there after Maui) I was introduced to one of their friends who happened to be a 2009 graduate of Lewis and Clark. It's a small world after all.

Arizona State is the latest school to change/update its logo and helmet design. That leads to this question: Which school has the best helmet design in college football?

Read more here:  http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1212307

What say you all? Let's keep it within the D3 ranks.

PA cat you have to get in on this one.

FYI: Being in Arizona I must say I dislike the new asu logo.

I grew up a bigtime ASU Football fan, didn't miss a home game in the first 13 years of my life and made both the 87' and 97' Rose Bowl games. Nike has been adjusting their uni's every year since they took over for Adidas in the early 2000's and havent gotten it right yet. Getting rid of sparky was a big time mess up, and the new uni's are nothing spectacular ... Nike is getting a little out of control with the techy looking designs. ASU's simple uni's back in the Plummer/Tillman days are what they should be rocking still.

I smell  money.  U of I was out front on changing their logo.  They went from Herky the Hawk to the Tiger Hawk logo.  Reason, Herky wasn't copywrited and couldn't be licensed.  My guess is ASU is doing the same thing.

Anyone else a little surprised not to see Hedin's name on the D3 Draft Watch list on the front page?

Good question Bubs.  Immediate thought would be that he doesn't fit the size profile. Would have to have a super fast 40 to overcome it, any idea of his 40 speed? Anyone know if he is trying to pursue a career in the post collegiate fball department?
I would love to see him continue on.

Thanks again for the great vids 11.  Supreme quality as ever!

I know Hedin and Heston are both trying to catch on somewhere.  I don't have any current info on their progress but both have the size and talent to get at least a look.   Hope the best for them!

If they could make a roster it would do big things for d3 football schools. The more players from this division knock on the nfl door the better.
There is a lot of talent out there, been watching the draft, and I realize players from d3 schools have a rough row to hoe, but I'm glad these guys are taking the initiative to step out and further their career. I wish them luck. The thing that gets me, my own personal beef, is although d1 players have the talent, many of them bring a lot of baggage with them.

Cam Newton especially; "...Newton was arrested for alleged theft of a laptop computer from a student at the University of Florida. He was subsequently temporarily suspended by the team after the laptop was in fact found to be in his possession. "...Newton withdrew from the University of Florida after the Fall 2008 semester. All charges against Newton were dropped after he completed a court-approved pretrial diversion program. Foxsports.com reported that Newton left the University of Florida after the fall semester in 2008 rather than face suspension or expulsion in part because of three instances of academic cheating." (Courtesy of Wikipedia)

Anyone watch his interview with Jon Gruden? "Chucky" asked him to verbalize an Auburn play and he couldn't do it. He said coaches would hold up a sign on the sidelines, such as the number 36, and that's what he would call in the huddle. Coach told him learning the language of professional football will be his biggest hurdle. He also said he would have to call the plays given to him and not do his own thing like he did in the ncaa championship game against Oregon.

For someone as intellectually and morally challenged as he appears to be, he must have something more than just exceptional physical talent to rate being picked #1 in the NFL draft.  What is it?  8-)

Pacific Football getting some attention from Student Newspapers the past few weeks.

The Pacific Index has two articles talking about rumors of wide spread academic issues on the team:

With confidence there is hope for football victory

Football rumors found false, Buckley clears things up

The Linfield Review has a quick editorial about Pacific Football players giving the women's softball team a bad time.

Scouting Report
Unknown to most sports fans less than a year ago, Newton has turned into a household name. That quick ascension occurred because he developed into one of the best dual threats in college football history, led numerous comeback victories, became the center of a headline-grabbing scandal, claimed the Heisman Trophy and won a BCS title with a perfect season. All the hype could lead to the junior being drafted No. 1 overall, as a self-proclaimed 'entertainer and icon' who should sell tickets. Skeptics wonder whether he's worthy of a top-10 pick, feeling his passing skills have a long way to go to catch up to his superior running ability, overall athleticism and seemingly big ego. Those concerns were confirmed at the NFL combine, where he put too much air under many passes and was outclassed by other quarterbacks in throwing drills. Newton did outperform most of them in the 40-yard dash as well as the vertical and broad jumps, then quelled some doubts about his accuracy with a solid performance at Auburn's pro day. One of three players in FBS history to throw and run for 20 touchdowns in a season, Newton had five games where he rushed for more than 150 yards and eight in which he topped 200 passing. Those exploits, though, have garnered as much attention as ones off the field. He backed up Tim Tebow for a season and a half before leaving the Gators in November 2008 following his arrest for stealing a laptop, though there was a report he faced possible expulsion for cheating. More allegations emerged this season when he avoided punishment after it was reported his father tried to sell his services to a big-time program after his son's dominant 2009 junior college season. All of those transgressions will get overlooked by a team looking for a franchise quarterback. Though footwork is among the mechanical issues he needs to improve, the powerful Newton has a smooth delivery and is very good at avoiding the rush, able to scramble for big gains or make on-target throws on the move."

Mr. Ypsi

Exactly.  They are hoping he can be Michael Vick (preferably without missing seasons due to prison time). 8-)

Swing for the title, ladies, not the fences is apparently the article that stirred all the controversy at Pacific as well among the Wildcat elite.

Two words about Cam Newton:  JaMarcus Russell

I'm going to step out and say he will be as big of a bust as Russell was.  ::)
