To we Linfield Wildcat fans, even an inadvertant confusion of a "non-losing season streak" with a "winning season streak" is a perturbation up with which we will not put.  ;D

Well said.
The same thing...only different! ;)

To all the *"nattering nabobs of negativity" out there I say this: **"I always thought that record would stand until it was broken."

Yogisms...gotta love em and they never get old...never.
Still makes me blow spit when I hear em...remember this one?

"After a baseball off the noggin episode, Yogi was taken to the Hospital and released, commenting "They thoroughly examined my head, and they didn't find anything."

Viola dude...viola!

"THE METTLE'S IN THE MEN!"

Mr. Ypsi

Love it.

Especially the viola - which is a lower tuned violin - voila is the expression you meant!

Or perhaps you knew that and that was part of the joke?! ;D

A few more from Yogi:

"I never said most of the things I said."

"It ain't the heat, it's the humility."

"It gets late early out there."

"I think Little League is wonderful. It keeps the kids out of the house."

"It's like deja vu all over again."

In the NWC, Willamette has the toughest 2011 schedule with 2 top-25 (according to Sporting News and Lindy) D3 opponents, Portland State, and 10-games.
Whitworth is second with 2 top-25 D3 opponents and 10 games.
The Lutes are third with 2 top-25 D3 opponents and 9 games.
The rest:  Lewis & Clark, Linfield, Pacific, and Puget Sound each have 9 games and one top-25 D3 opponent.

Go Bearcats!

Gray Fox

Quite a jump for Redlands.
Maybe a cheerleader's friend's  brother will be the new QB. :P

Made easier by having 7 of the 10 at home and two of the 3 away games only 50 miles up the road in Portland.

With a schedule like the Bearcats are facing, I'll take whatever breaks Willamette can get.    8-)

The Whitworth game against Redlands on 9/17 after the Bulldogs play top-10 team North Central on 9/3 might give an indication of the relative strengths of the NWC, SCIAC, and CCIW this year.

Eurofootball is apparently spreading through the NWC.  An L&C coach even moonlights in Europe during the off-season.  An excerpt from the Pioneer football blogspot

Q & A w/ Ryan Lockard
Coach Ryan Lockard hasn't hung up his cleats quite yet. During the Pioneer offseason, Lockard takes a trip across the Atlantice to continue his football playing career. Lockard currently plays in Poland for the Warsaw Eagles. I got a chance to ask him some questions about his experiences. Whats it like playing football in a foreign country?

There is no other experience like playing football in a foreign country. You get to experience new cultures, learn new languages, get to see amazing historical sites, and play the game that you love. On top of that, you get paid to do it! Can't beat that.

. . . .

6. You've played football in France, Denmark and now Poland, which is the best?

That's a tough question. I had a great time playing in France and Denmark, but I also love it so far in Poland. I would have to say that each country has different things to offer. France has amazing food and wine, Denmark has the happiest people that I've ever seen and gorgeous girls (although Poland is up there too), and I like Poland's history and am impressed by the resiliency of the Polish people for rebuilding their country after WWII.

Rating don't mean that much in preseason...but we'll take what we can get!

D O.C.

No injuries.

Win the conference.

Beat the SCIAC team in first round.

Fundamental football there on out.

From Whitworth SID Steve Flegal's November 10, 2010 wrap-up of the Pirates football season:

"Football History: History was made on October 2nd at Connor Field in Atherton, Calif. For the first time in NCAA history, two women worked as part of the same officiating crew. Catherine Conti was the head lineswoman while Mary Podesta served as the line judge during the Whitworth-Menlo game. Both are employed by the Northwest Intercollegiate Football Officials Association (NIFOA), which makes assignments for games involving the Northwest Conference (NCAA DIII), Great Northwest Athletic Conference (NCAA DII) and Menlo (NAIA Independent). Ty Halpin, the NCAA's liaison to the Football Rules Committee and College Football Officiating, LLC (CFO), confirmed to Mike Burton (NIFOA Commissioner) that it was the first time two women worked the same officiating crew for a game involving an NCAA member institution."
