cludad,

Here is an feature (.pdf) that ran in the NY Times on Brett before the 2005 season.  The answers to your questions are there.  :)  Thanks for the kind words...I do love my 'Cats.

Schoettgen Signs with San Jose Sabercats in Arena Football League

An excerpt from the story:
"On Saturday, May 28, Schoettgen saw action in the Sabercats' home game against the Georgia Force. He caught a 21-yard pass with no time remaining in the fourth quarter that would have given the Sabercats the win with the extra point, but the score was wiped out by a holding penalty in the offensive line. Schoettgen and the Sabercats will be playing at the Dallas Vigilantes on Saturday, June 4."

The post-college Bearcat-Wildcat rivalry continues.   ;)

Thanks for the tip river. I'm watching the Sabercats vs. Rattler's game right now. I'll keep an eye open for Schoettgen.

Happy Father's Day to all the dad posters out there. :)

My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard.  Mother would come out and say, "You're tearing up the grass."  "We're not raising grass," Dad would reply.  "We're raising boys."  ~Harmon Killebrew

Well I wouldn't say you aren't worthy....but last year if we would have beaten CLU in that 1st game, we probably would have advanced much further in the playoffs...because I think to start the season we were rated #4 or so to start the season and probably wouldn't have dropped lower if we would have won. Therefore playing most all playoff games at home.

Schoettgen has seen play in 2 games and has 3 TD's - right on track with his play at Willamette. Unfortunately the Sabercats have lost every game since he was signed.

Oh Bluenote....all we had to do was play our game in St. Paul and we would have helped ourselves. We did not.

CLU was sitting, waiting for us September 10, 2011. Now we can prepare, then wait for them. They should be favored and we know how that can go.

It takes two to play a game and although Linfield didn't play its game that day, St. Thomas had a role in that. (Similarly for Mount Union, say, against UWW in Salem.)

...home field and no travel is huge in the playoffs. Especially for west coast teams.

warthog

Watch for Wartburg sitings in the Hood River and Willamette Valley areas over the next few days.  Mrs. Warthog's cousin and her husband are visiting the area, based in part on the recommendation we gave them after our excursion to a Linfield  football game last fall.  This guy probably has a collection of orange Wartburg shirts that is second to none.  You will know it is them when you see a guy with gimpy, surgery scarred football knees wearing a Wartburg shirt .

Yes, Mr. Moderator, agreed. If Wartman and the Wingman would have been on, they'd a whacked us, but I suppose the LINFIELD defense was the reason they weren't on, eh?
