I'm not sure what this chatter is all about...everyone knows Linfield is going to win the conference this year, and head straight to the Stagg Bowl! ;)

Man, I miss you guys! Coco, Bluenote -- how've you been?

TGIF -- thank god it's football!!  :D

I think dutchfan1 is correct on this matter.  Call the conference commissioner's office and tell them to box up the trophy and send it over to McMinnville c/o the Linfield Football team.
It is nice to co-exist with dutchfan1 over here.  At our league site we don't agree on most things.

Greetings to all -- Bluenote and the Iowegians. It's good to be back in the best season of the year.

So, coco, how is this grandparenting job going?  Mrs. Warthog and I sure are enjoying it.  We were in Waverly and Cedar Falls a few weeks ago to celebrate 1 year birthdays for the boys.  It was great!  We thought having one grandchild was fun.  Now with three it is even better.

A bit of a contrast in styles with this Saturdays Puget Sound v. Sewanee game. Any speculation on the outcome?

I like Puget Sound in this one--homefield and a bit more offensive firepower (e.g. a passing game).  Not sure what their defense will do against the triple option but I think they may be able to pull a win.

a little new Puget Sound style vs old Puget Sound style

Looks like Sewanee has averaged 325 yards on the ground per game this year and a whopping 12 yards per game through the air in 2 games. :-X  'Can you say stop the run?'

Yep Blue--they are a triple option team and have thrown the ball a total of 8 times in those two games.  UPS is not exactly a stellar D team so it should be intersting to see you they handle the option.  On the other hand, Sewanee has not seen a passing attack like UPS has this year so it could be quite a game...

The North--South Lutes game seems to be the most interesting this weekend and may say a lot about how the Lutes will do this year in the NWC.

A couple of excerpts from the game preview on the Lute website:

Pacific Lutes To Be Tested This Week By No. 19 Cal Lutheran

"DEFENSE STANDING STRONG: Returning six starters from a season ago, the Pacific Lutheran defense began the 2011 season with a bang last Saturday afternoon against Hamline."

"Quarterback Jake Laudenslayer leads the offense for the Kingsmen. The senior passed for 220 yards last week against Linfield. Junior wide receiver Eric Rogers provides a big play threat for Cal Lutheran. Last week, Rogers caught four balls for 91 yards. In last season's playoff loss to Linfield, Rogers caught 11 balls for 216 yards and two touchdowns."

The greatly improving Pios won last Saturday over C-M-S 36-14.

Team of the Week--Games of Sept. 9-10, 2011
"Defense
DE Riley Mitchell, Sr., Lewis and Clark
Mitchell forced two fumbles and sacked the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps quarterback for a 7-yard loss in the Pioneers' win, to go along with five tackles, four solo."

This week at Griswold Stadium the Pios play Pomona-Pitzer (1-8 in 2010), which lost 35-7 to Whitworth on 9/10.
With any luck, the Pios could be 3-0 before they play Pacific, their first NWC foe on 10/1.

With SOU coming to town tomorrow, I'd like to again thank wildcat11 for digging up THIS gem of a video a couple of years ago.

Get Rogers the ball at least 7-10 times weekly, and CLU will not lose.
