Perhaps not surprising that Austin Ehlo's catch is the Play of the Week:

I just found out today and my heart sank with sadness as I read about Andy Collins former QB at Occy. I remember watching him play against Linfield when my son played for the Wildcats.

Read about it here:  http://www.dailynews.com/sports/ci_18880165  and   http://articles.latimes.com/2011/aug/04/local/la-me-andy-collins-20110804

Enough about all our fan injuries. (Though I'm in complete solidarity)
Somebody send me a PM about Sparky and Aaron.

I just revel in the optimism of the Wu crew, like a couple of guys  sitting down at a blackjack table having just checked in the hotel.

yeah, D.O.C., I mean, it isn't really going to be a game, is it? The Wildcats are SO SO SO much better than WU in EVERY single aspect of the game. I could equate it to a matchup of the Patriots and a fourth grade flag football team. It's not even going to be close. In fact, maybe you guys should give us a 60-point head start just to give us a chance to stay in the game with you guys past the first quarter! That would be so nice of Linfield to take pity on us poor, helpless little Bearkitties. Wah wah wah wah wah.

Haha, well, SOMEBODY had to stir the conversation up a little bit  ;)

In all seriousness, this game essentially sets the tone for/decides the NWC year in and year out. Thanks to Linfield's reluctance (coughfearcough) of ever playing more than an 8-game schedule (let's be honest, the  pushover game the 'Cats conveniently choose to play every year before Willamette doesn't count), I really can't comment on how you boys out in McMinnville are looking. All I can and will say is that both teams always come out hard, and I'm personally counting down the days.

Here's hoping McCulloch on that Saturday is as electric as a trip to Maxwell Field always is (I have major respect for your crowd's energy)

Chatter out.

I'm optimistic because I can see that we're getting better every week.  We were awful against Stevens Point, we were better against Hardin-Simmons, and we looked good against SOU.  Plays like this are now happening on a regular basis.

The $64,000 question is, are we getting better fast enough to beat Linfield?  I sure hope so, but I don't know.  We'll find out on October 1.

For what it's worth I think DOC was talking about sprained ankles, torn achilles, and other health issues totally unrelated to the game(s).  As for the game in 2 weeks--should be a battle--CATs have only had one game so far and there was a lot of room for improvement--most likely won't get challenged much this week but you never know so Willamette is likely the big one (again).  As for the Wildcat schedule--I think next year they have a slightly tougher schedule....
Go Cats!

BCP -- Awful against Stevens Point?   The score was 6-8 and if a couple of calls had gone differently . . .    I think people are underestimating WU based on Win/Loss so far this year and not looking at the whole picture -- like WHO they've played.    I think the team is really coming together and can't wait for the WU/Linfield matchup.

The jury is still out on if it's better to play a "pushover" team or have a bye before that game. but at least the bye week gives WU players time to heal injuries after playing 3 tough teams.   The danger in playing a pushover team is that they've got nothing to lose and sometimes injuries occur.   Of course, that won't matter since Linfield will play their JV team against LaVerne. :D

Sorry to hear about all the injuries and ailments to people on the board -- you get healed & well, so we can fight about football!

And someone tell GigHarborCat that he's missed.   He adds spice to this place.

Well....it's out. GigHarborCat's phone was disconnected - unpaid bill.
Passing the hat on the La Verne side of the field Saturday and all should be ok by the end of the month.

Well, looking forward to the Wildcats playing CMS or PP from the SCIAC next year for a "slightly tougher schedule...."   ;)

WU always has a few really tough guys on their D... that kid looks like a player. Also like #4 the receiver. All I have seen on WU is highlights but they look like they have the necessary tools to give Linfield a run.

I think Linfield plays HSU next year for one change. Not sure what else is on the docket. I was thinking that we'd dump Menlo also. Maybe George Fox is added?
