Well, looking forward to the Wildcats playing CMS or PP from the SCIAC next year for a "slightly tougher schedule...."   ;)

I think Linfield plays HSU next year for one change. Not sure what else is on the docket. I was thinking that we'd dump Menlo also. Maybe George Fox is added?

Great, now all the Wildcats need to do to keep up is to play a 10-game regular season schedule.
Go Bearcats!

BCP -- Awful against Stevens Point?   The score was 6-8

Uh, yeah.  I'd say that's awful.
I think you mean Off-ul.  The defense was good in that game! :)
I think the WU Defense have been the MVP's so far this season. Fly needs bigger "wings" and I wonder which player(s) will sprout them. Knecht has D1 potential and Speck should exploit it, but not to the point where it makes them one-dimensional.

I'm Hopeful that the BYE week allows them time to practice like there's no tomorrow, game-plan like crazy and get a good enough tune-up to get a crucial "W" vs Linfield!

NWC Title is on the line from here on out. Go Bearcats!

I just found out today and my heart sank with sadness as I read about Andy Collins former QB at Occy. I remember watching him play against Linfield when my son played for the Wildcats.

Read about it here:  http://www.dailynews.com/sports/ci_18880165  and   http://articles.latimes.com/2011/aug/04/local/la-me-andy-collins-20110804

Sad story, to be sure. I never saw him play, but if he transferred to Occidental from U of O in the Kellen Clemens era, he had to be a helluva player.

D O.C.

Those of you able to witness the LINFIELD home game this week will see the worst contrast since Rowan brought their yellow and brown west. The Cardinal and Purple will be facing green and orange. I suppose those are appropriate colors for the first week of Fall in the NW.

A bye week is a good time for WU to practice non larvae offense. Catch the WILDCATS napping, you know?

D O.C.:

ULV away uniforms last year were white with green numbers with orange trim. They looked fine. Although I prefer white jerseys with dark pants for away games when CU plays away games. Just my opinion.

Good one, MonroviaCat---   I kept thinking we'd be fine, if the defense would score!!  Special Teams wasn't all that special that day either!!   But they didn't monkey stomp us!  A two point loss when you're having a bad day . . . ?

When your offense is held scoreless until 27 seconds are left in the game, that's more than just a bad day.  Particularly when that same team gives up 23 points to Platteville the next week.

Willamette looks much better now than we did against Stevens Point.  Part of that is because of just how bad our offense looked against Stevens Point.

If you're going to mock Platteville, you have to mock Wheaton, also. Platteville has down by 2 at 16-14 midway through the 4th quarter against d3football.com's #7 team last week, before Wheaton scored with about 3 minutes left to win by 9. Platteville has always been kind of an enigma for many of us around the WIAC, so I don't really know what to make of them quite yet. Their real litmus test comes on Oct 1 when they travel to UWW to take on the Warhawks.

Not mocking Platteville.  Just pointing out that they're not exactly known as an offensive juggernaut.

Sad story, to be sure. I never saw him play, but if he transferred to Occidental from U of O in the Kellen Clemens era, he had to be a helluva player.

After seeing him two years in a row, I can say Andy Collins was an EXCELLENT quarterback.   He scared us Wildcat fans plenty.   He was very versatile: could pass and run.    He unfortunately had to try and beat two of our greatest teams:  2004 (National champions) and 2005--- The Elliott, Allen, Hazenberg, etc. steamroller teams.

In the 2005 game, he passed for 314 yards, plus he rushed for another 123.    But, he could not do it alone; his team just didn't have the depth and breadth of talent that we had those two years.

That is truly a sad, sad story.   What a shame to see any young person pass so early.

It's halftime with the score Lake Oswego 21 Jesuit 14. It's turned into a very good game with LO scoring 3 touchdowns in the second quarter.  :D
I wonder if there are any future Wildcats playing in this game.

GT: I gave you +k for your remarks regarding Andy Collins.
Go Cats! Make it 62 in '17!

I just revel in the optimism of the Wu crew, like a couple of guys  sitting down at a blackjack table having just checked in the hotel.

I'm optimistic because I can see that we're getting better every week.  We were awful against Stevens Point, we were better against Hardin-Simmons, and we looked good against SOU.  Plays like this are now happening on a regular basis.

The $64,000 question is, are we getting better fast enough to beat Linfield?  I sure hope so, but I don't know.  We'll find out on October 1.

Press, I'll have you know that Giza's hit got 50,000 hits on youtube in a week (it's a different video that the one you posted).

Also, I love the upside of Knecht, but I just don't know how much he'll be able to do against Linfield's secondary. Yikes. Hope we don't become one dimensional in a bad way.

Nice complete game by the 'Cats today. Follows the Linfield tradition of underclassmen getting lots of playing time before becoming starters. Daughter still wondering why the 'Cats are playing a bunch of lepers.

That is too funny! What did you tell her? :D
I counted 67 players from Linfield that participated in todays game. :o

River,
At least the Games/Teams Linfield play's are counting games . SOU=0 in DIII  PSU=0 in DIII
Looks to me like the Bearcats are really 0 fer in DIII right now. Ill take 9 good DIII games over 8 any day.
GO WILDCATS!
