Wildcat'64

Tux,

Good post about us 'water boy's'.....The first string has the day off after the victory yesterday but they'll be back on the Board tomorrow to take some of the pressure off us keeping the wolves from eating us alive.

I did check back and see the last time we met an East Coast 'elitist' team and it was Rowan and the score in the semifinals was 52-0.  I remember it as kind of a 'sloppy' game so we pulled the first string after the first half and let the Sophomores and Freshmen play the rest of the game.  So if Wesley is the new 'Beast of the East', I'm looking forward to seeing the team that can take it to the Apprentice School by +50.  Perhaps since the boys work all day they forgot to practice to get ready for the Wolverines.
LEAVE NO DOUBT

Wesley would technically be the Beast of the South by NCAA Clarification, not the beast of the East.  (Not that it matters really!)

Now after all the useless silly comments, maybe some football talk.  I just finished watching the video from yesterday, and I do wish Wesley did the same for their home games, and I saw a nice game by 2 very good teams.  I did not see anything that should make Wesley not want to show up.  Linfield gave up 440+ yards and was holding on at the end.  The defense looks very susceptable to a mobile qb which Wesley has.  In fact they look and play almost exactly the same.  I was surprised by Linfield only rushing 3 or 4 on almost every play.  The linebackers and d backs look to be very quick and aggressive which allowed Cal Luth to complete some long passes on pump fakes.  The first 2 drives that Linfield had interceptions on turned out to be huge and possibly the difference in the game.  Good teams cause mistakes and Wesley will have to avoid them.  I think that Wesley will do a better job of stopping the run.  The o line looks to be very solid and #7 is a nice running back.  Your qb runs a nice game and does what he needs to do for Linfield to be as good as they are.  You have an advantage in one area for sure, you have a very good placekicker.  I expect this weeks game to be just like the one I just watched, 2 good teams going at it for 60 minutes.  Gray Fox, I hope that I don't have any grammatical errors. :)

Wildcat 64, I will keep that in mind.  I will need something to take a look at as the week goes on so I will save that for later this week.

criswyly, not sure who you are having the tradition discussion with, but it isn't me.  All traditions have to start somewhere and Wesley's happened to really start as far as playoffs go in 2005.  I am glad that you are that interested in what Wesley has done recently.  Just to help everyone else so they don't have to look it up Wesley has been to the semis 4 times, losses to uww 3 and mount 1, and the quarters 2, both losses to umhb.  They have never played in the Stagg, but just like any other top program that is the goal at the beginning of the season.  I have respect for the tradition that Linfield has, but I am not sure what that will have to do with what happens on the field on Saturday.  I am glad that many of you are proud that you went to Linfield, but in the end it means nothing on the field.  Guess I will have to come back when the "A" team is here so that we can have a football conversation, not a history lesson.

almost forgot, puget sound doesn't look like they would be any better than apprentice.  Pacifid doesn't look like they bring much to the field either.  All teams have easy games, that is what happens when you are good.

Thank you. :)  That is much easier to read.

Sorry, but in my opinion, the game Saturday is not just about two teams on the field.  It is about our program vs. your program.  Linfield's present program is built on the foundation of decades of coaches and player who learned how to win both on and off the field.  There is no one right way to do that.  It is something that really can't be measured by statistics, but indeed does affect the present day team.  Such things are, playing as a team, motivations, coaching, leaving it all on the field, etc.....Maybe that's a bit esoteric for your thinking, if you think everything in life fits a certain formula.

And Wesley is built on the same principles.  Coach Drass and Coach Knapp have been the captains of the Wolverines for over 20 years now, so if that doesn't constitute a tradition, what does?  Linfield won it all 7 years ago now and since then has had three 6-3 seasons with a loss in the second round last year.  Let's compare that to what Wesley has done since your trip to the Stagg bowl.  It compares quite a bit more favorably.  So, on Saturday we will get to see our teams settle it on the field.  And it will be good.

Wesley football is built on pride , hard work in the class room as well as on the field and family. My son graduated from Wesley in '99 and I still travel the two hrs from Pa. to every home game. wesleydads son graduated  a few yrs ago and yet he still goes to Wesley games. There are a number of ex players parents who travel to Dover to watch games. That is because we all for the most part have been treated like family over the years. Wesley has the third most victories in DIII over the last 5 seasons. Maybe they haven't beaten UWW or UMU but no one else has either!!!

Wesley plays everyone that will play them. There are a number of DIII programs that are within a 2 hrs drive of Wesley that avoid Wesley year after year.  Wesley also makes good team sometimes look like cupcakes.

We have explained that already.  I guess the only way to show how good Wesley is to show what Salisbury did to the Empire 8 and that Wesley beat Salisbury.  Thus why automatic bid conferences don't want Wesley around.

Lynchburg College, when did they start playing football?

Wesley wouldn't play Virginia University of Lynchburg (which is not the same school as Lynchburg College) if other schools would play them, as already stated.
