Now, come on, desertcat1, everybody with a brain cell remembers that WU got to the second round and bent over for Occidental to give them the boot.

In 2004, Oxy beat Willamette in a first round game:

QuoteKyle Stowers '06: In our first-round playoff game in 2004 against Willamette, they were obviously the favorites; a SCIAC team had not won a playoff game in a long time. During the week Andy felt the team wasn't giving enough during practice, that maybe we doubted our own chances. He spoke with such passion and belief that he inspired many of us. We ended up winning the game 28-14.

Willamette returned the favor in 2008.

Your replacement brain cells are in the mail.

Congratulations to Wesley for making the Linfield fans act like bitter losers.

OxyBob
What Bob, as opposed to Oxy fans who are proud, happy losers?  C'mon--everybody is bitter (or should be) when they lose....especially in the playoffs.....after blowing a 20 pt half time lead.....Heck Yeah we're bitter!

Linfield aside, I'm beginning to hate purple even more than I thought possible  >:(

You know what they say. To be the best you have to beat the best. Still waiting for another team to rise to the top and stop either one of these teams.
Any prediction for the Stagg Bowl?

Yes. I predict it will be too far away for anyone in the NWC to go and socialize.

If Whitewater plays like they did today I predict UWW by 10. I thought they looked incredible and to beat the Tommies by 20 is impressive.

And to shut them out as well---I have to say I've been suprised by Whitewater in the playoffs--they had a few sort of close games in the regular season that made them look beatable to me but I think they've stepped it up.
Go Cats!

It sure helps to have EVERY playoff game at home.   Wesley would have won at home yesterday.    The Wildcats would have won at home two weeks ago.

You can't say for sure that they would have won.  Would they have had a better chance of winning?  Possibly.
I think it helps to a degree but it's also an excuse. WW had to go on the road in 2005 to play the Cats (lost to MUC in Stagg) and last year (to NCC and to Wesley)  still ran the table and won it all last year.

Hi everyone,

OK, sports fans.    Here are two questions (not D3 related):

Who was the Wizard of Westwood?

Who said "Winning isn't every thing; it's the only thing "?

I would be interested in hearing your answers.   No research, please.   Just tell me if you know or think you know.

I'm not convinced the Tommies were tested much this year up until the UWW game....I had heard somewhere that they didn't play a top 25 team all year, even through the playoffs....I was thinking Bethel was ranked but maybe not when they played them?

Bethel was 10 going into the UST game, according to the d3football.com rankings.

I stand corrected.
It was a day game, for once, and I remember the dust as stoonk was showing me his Mount Union National Championship ring.
Stoonk told me  last week he  has 5 of his brothers 10 Stagg Bowl rings and  changes them on his finger weekly!

D O.C.

He should. The one I saw had a diamond missing.  I guess he was slumming at Occidental.
