To all my fellow posters.

Jerri Lynn Horning March 24, 1952-February 6, 2012

My wife Jerri Horning passed away at 8:54 on February 6 after a 2 1/2 year battle with cancer. I was laying next to her in bed with our son and daughter at her side. Jerri's mom and dad were here along with her sister. Our dear friends from San Diego were with us also.

We had been married for 38 1/2 years during which time we became a part of the Wildcat family while attending the games at Maxwell Field to watch our son play. Jerri enjoyed attending the games and we both fell in love with Linfield. Our times spent in Oregon were very special and brought us both a lot of happiness.

John,

Connie and I send our deepest condolences to you and your family. You and Jerry are special. If memory serves (and sometimes these days it doesn't), we first met you and Jerri at an Einstein's bagel shop in Glendale, AZ. I couldn't believe there was some guy standing there wearing a LINFIELD T-shirt. And then all those times we saw you guys at Linfield games. Those were great times. I've especially appreciated hearing your thoughts and comments on this board over the years. I look forward to many more. My heart is heavy knowing now of the special burden you've been carrying over the last couple of years. Thanks for sharing this very personal matter with us. May God bring peace to you and your family in this difficult time.

Your friend,

Thank you all so very much for your kind words and condolences. My wife Jerri was one of a kind for sure. I really appreciate the response I have received from my Wildcat family and those whom I have come to know over the years through our love of D3 football and the young men who play the game. Thank you badgerwarhawk. I do remember our first meeting OldCatProf. I hope to see you all during the induction of the 2004 National Championship Team at Maxwell Field. It was a goal Jerri and I set to be there together. I am certain her spirit will be rejoicing to see our son standing alongside of his teammates at Linfield.

Thank you again,

John,

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. My Mother is a cancer survivor and while I'm lucky to still have her in my life I know what a battle with cancer can do to a family. I wish you and your family peace and happiness as you navigate this difficult time.

Some bad news on the NWC football front.

George Fox has pushed their return to football from 2013 to 2014 due to money.

Guess they're still planning on hiring a head coach in the next month or two but I'm not sure why a new coach would want to wait around 2 years before seeing the field.

The remaining of the NWC schools are now bent over in 2013 in terms of having to fill that GFU 2013 slot.  Brutal.

I'm going to assume Oxy will be playing Menlo for the last time this season.  That will maybe make them available.

I bet Wesley has open dates--they could come to Oregon again and stay for a couple of months. :)
