FightBearcats

Tonight's game was a tale of two halves.  The Bearcats played lights out for the first half and ETBU was terrible (turnovers, mistakes).  I'd have to check but I don't think WU had a penalty in the first half and everything was clicking.  ETBU caught fire in the 3rd quarter and WU was subbing.  I give ETBU credit for not quitting.  They made a real run and got to where they had a chance to win.  But, the Bearcats didn't fold either and, in spite of their own mistakes, two fumbles giving ETBU a short field leading to TDs for instance (and that's not all), kept their heads and controlled the ball through much of the 4th quarter.  So, a win's a win and a lot better than a loss.

The Bearcats are a work in progress but I'm really encouraged.  They need to learn to keep the pedal down and not let the other team get back in the game when they have them beaten.  I believe that will come.

After watching Willamette play in black jerseys last night, I think I can empathize with wildcat11's feelings about Linfield's all purple look.  If I'd wanted to go to a school who played in black and gold, I'd have gone to PLU.

With that said, the most important word in the phrase "ugly win" is "win."  If the Bearcats can just figure out how to consistently snap the ball without fumbling it, this could be a very, very good team.

Great win for the NWC.  Inspite of the sloppy play I was impressed with Willamette.  I am sure they will be in the top 25 by Monday and could be in the top 10 in a few weeks.  The Linfield/Willamette game will definitely be on everyone's calendar.  As usual the game will be won by the team who plays error free football.  What say you, Pat Coleman?  Did Willamette impress you?

I think Linfield's purple pants and white Jersey's are really a cool look.

My 2 cents:  Bearcats are playing an uptempo offense and move the ball well.  Turnovers are a glaring issue in the first two weeks.  On Defense--they look vulnerable against the pass especially the short to middle distance passes.  They seem to get some pressure on the QB which may be why they have not allowed too many long passes.  I think Cats match up well against them but it could be a shootout....of course that's 6 weeks away.  Big game today--in less than 3 hours---I better get in the car and go! :)
Go Cats!

Really enjoyed watching the ETBU v Willamette game last night.  Game was a lot closer than the score indicated, or at least I thought so from the ETBU point of view. I honestly think if ETBU doesn't fumble early in the 3rd quarter going inside the 5 on the screen pass then its a different result.  ETBU left 3 tds on the field IMO; that fumble and then 2 in the 1st half on both fg attempts. QB just missed an open wr on 3rd down before the 1st fg attempt and I thought they should have went for it right before half after they had put together a nice drive to get inside the 20.  If both tems eliminate the turnovers I believe they will both have a say in the conference championship.

I may be late to the party, but welcome to ETBU. It's good to see the mix of teams that play against the NWC.
Go Cats! Make it 62 in '17!
