Cam Cat,
p.s.  My Facebook page alerted me that you're having a birthday this week.....Congrats.....You're one old Cat!

To the untrained eye one might think that but I'm actually "youthing", counting back down with each birthday, plus my affirmation "I am getting younger and smarter every day". I'll report back to you and a few years to tell you how well it's working.

Great game between the Cats and the Kingsmen yesterday. Nice to see the Cats at #3. Very rarely do we see a top ten ranked team lose and then go up in ranking!! That speaks volumes of respect for both CLU and Linfield football.

GO CATS!!
Lost in things I love most: the Universe, a good woman, and LINFIELD FOOTBALL

Big win for the Lutes this week.  I went to the CalLu game last week and have to say the looked good at times, but were so rusty, it looked like they needed another week to work on the basics.

That said, I thought they might have a chance to beat Redlands, but I wasn't counting on it.  Sounds like they got a lot of stuff worked out since last week.

So, now we have Linfield Week (or "Flute Week" as Bluenote knows it).  I think that Linfield is the better team, but it will be interesting to see if the PLU D can slow down Linfield this year.  Who is going to the game?

wyd,

PLU is on the upswing for sure.  Young and talented.  Should be a great game in two weeks.  See you there.

We both have a bye this week.  I say we just go ahead and play two weeks in a row.

However, seeing him run for the hills like a cockroach when the lights turned on was one of the funniest moments I've ever seen at an athletic event.

I left at halftime, and I think I saw that guy about 4 miles away still running down Lynn Road near the 101.

ADvantage Catdome = 'Cats Win! Linfield kicks it in Cali in a tremendous 33-30 win

My "ugly" was an obvious pick as I breakdown the CLU photographer flap from the 2nd quarter.  Hope I did that justice.

You gotta own your error if you're working the sidelines like that. Heck -- once I took the fall for a coach who interfered with an official, because that team had already gotten a sideline warning. The game doesn't need stupid penalties like that and I thought I might be able to take it without issue. :)

Here is rare photographic evidence of the Guru committing sideline interference:

Nice to see your shout out for punter Josh Repp.  Those punts were key to keeping field position where the Cat's needed it.  His best punt was the great spiral downed on the 2 by Dundas never hitting the ground  that ended up nullified by a CLU penalty which gave the Cat's a first down.  Just ask CLU how important punting was !

Congrats Wildcats on winning against a tough opponent.  If the Bearcats can continue to improve, I look forward to a great contest on October 27.

D O.C.

I will never know - like the solutes - if Josh Repp was looking down the field to give his guys more time to cover or if he was going to pass (did I just speak out of school?).

The wrap-up of the Pacific/Oxy game got some cyber ink in the Honolulu StarAdvertiser because of the Boxers' roster with 29 players who graduated from Hawaii high schools.  They play the Bearcats this weekend.

Pacific gets a milestone victory with roster filled with aloha
By Billy Hull  POSTED: 01:30 a.m. HST, Sep 12, 2012  LAST UPDATED: 02:02 p.m. HST, Sep 12, 2012
In 2010, Pacific (Ore.) fielded its first football team in nearly 20 years with a strong Hawaii presence.
On Saturday, the program achieved an important milestone with its first road victory — a 27-6 win over Occidental (Calif.) College in Los Angeles.  Twenty-nine players who graduated from Hawaii high schools fill the Boxers roster, with many playing significant roles in the win.  Quarterback P.J. Minaya, who threw for 45 touchdowns as a senior for Pac-Five in 2009 and holds the state record with 511 passing yards in a single game, got his first start in more than a year.  He finished 17-for-31 for 207 yards and a touchdown — a 46-yard pass to Darin Kamealoha, his teammate in high school.  "It was like bringing back the high school days," Minaya said on Tuesday. "It was rewarding (to start) and felt good."  Minaya started in place of T.C. Campbell, a 2010 Kamehameha alumnus, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in the first game of the season.  The Boxers were dealt another blow when reigning first-team, All-Northwest Conference receiver Jordan Fukumoto (Saint Louis '10) left the field on a stretcher in the second quarter with a leg injury.  Kamealoha picked up the slack, finishing with four catches for 84 yards and Kelson Kawai (Kohala '10) had five catches for 49 yards.  Defensively, the Boxers were led by junior lineman Landon Aano (Kamehameha '10), who had three sacks. Kamu Morita (Kamehameha '10) had five solo tackles and Kasey Dukes (Leilehua '10) and Trey Kodama (Kamehameha '12) each added four tackles apiece.  After finishing 0-9 in 2010, Pacific went 1-8 last year for its first football victory in 20 years. Minaya expects the team to be much improved this season. "Things are coming together," he said. "It was a good experience building up a program. It's one of the reasons I wanted to come here."

I've seen both Willamette and Pacific play this year. It seems to me that Willamette will be dominate on the lines and the game in general. I really don't think Pacific has the fire power to give Willamette much of a game....but you never know it's NWC. Pacific has some good players but they are still young. Willamette seems to be hit and miss on offense but their line should wear down Pacific and their defense will stop Pacific's play makers and O-Line.

42-17 Willamette.

Think I'll take in the Macalester/Lewis & Clark game instead this weekend, since Linfield has a bye.

BTW...wasn't quite sure about Willamette's new outfits....seems to me more like a PLU color scheme.
