D O.C.

The two-time National Champ softball team looked out of place with dominant black.
BUT, if you win it all.......

I like the switch to the gold helmets with the paw logo. But the black jerseys...meh. I'd stick with cardinal tops at home and the all white look for away games

Couldn't have said it better myself.  But as bbaddict and D O.C. correctly point out, as long as the wins keep coming, I doubt anybody's going to get too upset.

Even if they don't keep winning...

The players should get to make the call. If the young pups like it, good for them. We had our moment. It's their turn. All I ask is that they play hard and represent the school and program well off the field. Simple enough.

Actually, I like the new uniforms - new coach, new system, fresh attitude, etc....

....But well said Rat, and I'm sure all the players at all the schools in the league are doing just that.

Please....my observation has been the evolution from the ghetto to the players calling the shots, then the wannabes. Follow the music.

It's true. I've been in the big city too long. :P
I have not been snoozing though.
The day USC wears black, I'll go silent on the subject.

From the 2012 Sewanee Football Game Notes on the game with Willamette:
"• Saturday marks the second time that Sewanee will take on a team from the Northwest Conference. Sewanee defeated Puget Sound, 30-7, in its season opener.
• Under new defensive coordinator Tom Evangelista, the Tigers have forced 10 turnovers in four games.
• When the Tigers rush for at least 370 yards or have at least two sacks, they are unbeaten this season."

Hahaha...that is quite a line.  They should have just gone with: "when the Tigers score more points than their opponent they are unbeaten this season."

More from the Tigers' Game Notes:  "Currently, Sewanee leads the SAA in total rushing at 337 yards per game. Overall, the Tigers' triple option offense ranks fifth nationally in total rushing."  (ATN ranks the SAA as a top-10 conference).

The Bearcats are in for a major test.  The Tigers can play defense against a passing team (e.g., UPS), have forced turnovers, and rush the ball well with their triple option.  The Bearcats seem to give up yardage too easily against the run, and defending against a triple option offense may cause more problems.  The Bearcats need to hang on to the football against a team that has forced 10 turnovers in 4 games, especially if the game becomes a ball possession contest, and Willamette needs to protect the QB consistently in order for their aerial attack to work.

WC11, I like your line because it fits the Bearcats better--Willamette will score more points than the Tigers and will remain unbeaten this season.

As a longtime Trojan and Wildcat fan, I PRAY that USC and Linfield NEVER, NEVER change their great colors.   Black is so boring.   Linfield's all purple look is not so hot either.

I'd hope so River.  As much as you claim this to be a "major test" it's anything but that.  If Willamette was playing Menlo this weekend the term "test" might be more appropriate but it looks due to "scheduling conflicts" that wasn't going to work out.   :-X

"scheduling conflicts"

No quotation marks necessary.  Willamette always hosts the Charles Bowles Invitational, one of the largest cross country meets on the west coast, on the last weekend in September.  Home football games played on that weekend have unusual, late afternoon start times due to the meet, which would have forced Menlo into an additional day of travel.  Menlo requested a change to the start time, Willamette said no, and Menlo decided they'd rather save the money.

I agree that it'd certainly make a better story if Coach Speckman and the current staff had a falling out and cancelled the game out of spite, but that's just not what happened.  In the end, it worked out for both parties - Willamette gets a fun home-and-home with Sewanee, and Menlo gets a well-placed bye.
