Love the Seanee chatter!
Let's hear something from those undefeated rats.

Still undefeated  ;D
Next week should be interesting---Bearcats not great against the run so Ronnie Thomast might have a big day!  How does Linfield use their 2nd bye week to prepare for Whitworth's run, run, run, even when's it's not working and then pass, grudingly, even though it is working offense?  :)
Go Cats!

The offense you described is why Willamette generally has a lot of success against the Pirates. Under Speckman they did a very good job of matching Whitworth's (usually predictable) personnel groupings. Run, Run, Pass....with the runs almost always coming out of a heavy set and the passes out of a shotgun spread look.

The last couple of weeks Whitworth has struggled to stop the big play. Which is scary considering Willamette is looking to go over the top so often. It should be close, if only because Whitworth likes making every game close apparently (even when it really shouldn't be). The Pirates should be able to slow the game down with the running game, but i don't know if I trust the secondary to keep Dean from going all Geno Smith on 'em.

Anyone recognize Nebraska with black and red uniforms?
Poor choice.

What is an illegal kick on a made field goal that was called back.....???   :P

From what I saw from Willamette today, they don't have a lot of foot speed on their defense.  They were able to do OK against any of the inside stuff that Sewanee was able to run but struggled against most of outside sweep and option stuff we ran against them.   Got to give them credit for putting together those last two defensive stands they had in the 4Q.   Dean had some pretty good stats on offense and would have had better numbers if his receivers had been able to hold on to some of the passes they dropped, esp in the first half.

Illegal kick:
There are 2 diferent fouls involving Kicking the ball: "Illegal Kick" & "Illegal Kicking of the Ball".  The foul you ask about is an illegal Kick. It is a foul for any player to intentionally Kick a loose ball.  The foul is 15 yards enforced from the spot of the foul. Kicks that fall within the definition of free kicks; scrimmage kicks: field goal, punt, drop kick are legal. The second one regarding kicking a FG on a mishandled snap is also an illegal kick.  For the FG to be legal the holder must possess the ball in place for the Kicker to kick.  If the ball is loose on the ground and the kicker kicks it is an illegal kick.  ;)
Go Cats! Make it 62 in '17!

Both Nebraska and Wisconsin were wearing their "throwback" uniforms. I agree with you. ;)

On the field goal, it sounded like there was something wrong with how the holder was 'marking' where he'd place the ball. Maybe he brought in a tee or was piling up the black pellets from the field turf? ??? The PLU radio guys were saying that the official leaned in twice to say something before the snap. That's all I can guess from the coverage.

Best wishes to the 'Cats the rest of the way. I think we've got a serious dogfight brewing for the NWC runner-up. The battle in Spokane this weekend will be interesting and then we get both those teams at home.  It's nice to be in the hunt again...and I think we'll be there the next couple years as well.

We're looking forward to seeing you guys in Salem next year.  I'm always excited to watch some triple option.

Hopefully some of the sharpness issues early on had something to do with the game starting at 1:00 p.m. your time - 11:00 a.m. for us.  That kind of play won't cut it against Whitworth next week.

Hi Dee,
This is the word I got on the kick--  Pre game the official noticed that our holder was marking his spot with a small piece of tape and advised him that he will call it.  On the actual kick our holder used some portion of loose turf material to mark the spot, and we were called on the kick.  I can see the tape deal if that is the rule, but using something that is part of the actual playing surface is crap.  Just my humble opinion-- Nice call Homer dick !!
We took care of business anyway.
And yes you are right Dee,  I see your club making a run from here,  The Westering kid is legit, they have tons of speed on the D,  After playing 3 teams that have been ranked it will be interesting where they go from here.

The Tigers will be older and better next year, but so will the Bearcats, and better prepared against the triple option.  Don't know if it was a lack of "foot speed" by the defense but the defense needs to complete its plays against the run and wrap up and tackle.   The game against the Pirates would be a good game to start.  Go Bearcats!

How banged up are the Wildcats?  "Freshman John Shaffer, in for the injured Josh Hill" and "All-American lineman Tyler Steele, who is out for the season".  Didn't seem to make any difference in the final result.
