If the trend keeps going on the RR the way it is with CLU moving to #4, it seems likely that CLU would get a home game to start? Or does money play that big of a role?

I think, if PLU makes the field then PLU drives to Mac and CLU hosts a game in round 1 and could actually get a favorable matchup if they are only flying one team....

I think either way the 'Cats are going to have a tough first round game while UWO or UST will get a walk in hosting the UMAC rep.   If we get to play at the 'Catdome then I'm fine with that.

That would be the logical thing to do but looking back at last year (Redlands didn't go to CLU) the NCAA might actually have the common sense to not have a conference rematch in round 1....then again, common sense really isn't all that common.

I think Redlands getting shipped last year was actually a common sense decion because they had to fly somebody to Texas and had to fly somebody to Oregon (or out of Oregon).  A similar situation could arise again this year but I think certain teams would have to lose.....and if PLU did get sent elsewhere we'd most certainly have Cal LU in round 1 (unless Chapman pulls a huge upset this weekend) which would be worse than a conference rematch--I mean we've played Cal Lu more than any other team in the last 5 years or so.....
Go Cats!

Oh, goodie! Redlands got to go to Texas and we got to go to Wesley. DON'T do me another favor.
BUT! I can always hope for a   East-West, North-South bracket.

Regarding who hosts playoff games:

I just learned this last week that Division III playoff schools must bid on holding a playoff game. Previously I assumed it was automatically the higher ranked team that hosted; except where the higher-ranked teams facilities were inadequate (e.g., CLU last year). It was explained that the bid requires qualifying facilities and certain services as well as a financial guarantee. I wonder if the financial guarantee had something to do with us being shipped east last year.

At the risk of generating even more opprobrium from D.OC for violating the "one game at a time" guidance ;D ;D, I also note that (this year, anyway) D3 semifinal games can only be held at stadiums able to handle ESPN game broadcasts. While it would be great for D3 to have the semifinals on TV, it would appear to rule out the Catdome as a location...only after, of course, we've taken "ONE GAME AT A TIME" and arrived there. :) :)
