What do you suppose the NCAA does with all those frequent flyer miles they build up?
Conferences in Hawaii?
Not DIII

There aren't any frequent flyer miles in the first round -- no miles on a charter flight.

yes, if they use my CC ?   "what's in your wallet" ;)

Question for all, including Pat. Concerning the left side of the bracket, if Linfield advances, would the Cats have home field until they reach Salem?
i think till the semis then there is some issue regarding facilities for the semis that may or may not affect home field...needs to be suitable for a possible espn broadcast (I think)

Thanks, MonroviaCat. If the Cats do advance to the semis, it would be unfortunate if a home game was taken away for this reason. Maybe Pat could chime in with his take in the matter. Portland's football stadium will have a high school state title game at night on December 8th, hopefully there would be another Oregon stadium available in such a case.

I don't know enough about what the ESPN requirements would be or how they would play into the site selection process, sorry. This is still relatively new.

That game is not automatically at noon local time. If an alternate site were needed, it would not be boxed into a noon kickoff. Last year the committee was fortunate that both hosts had plenty of space to accommodate a camera crew and broadcasters. It will be interesting to see how this continues to play out.

Agreed, and anything can happen in the playoffs. I would hope in this hypothetical situation, Linfield could play at another site, perhaps Corvallis or Eugene. It would seem like a workable solution to this issue.

Pat, I guess I missed something here....Why are we discussing that the Catdome might not be able to host at semi-final game.  We hosted one before.  Is there some rule change.  If it has to do with having facilities available for a broadcast setup that should be an easy work around unless the NCAA has got some highly specific requirements.

Yeah, no need to discuss that.  St. Thomas facilities should be just fine to host PLU in the semi-final. ;D

I guess I missed something; is the 1st round  the semis already?

One game at a time of course, but people have to look ahead for possible plane flights and all :)

Just ribbing you guys a little.
I would much rather the boys were heading for CLU in the first round.  Not that they are a slouch, but I get the impression they are beat up.
I haven't had much time this year to enjoy Saturdays, so I wouldn't even be able to guess how we might score.  And I doubt three TD's will even keep it close.

Gotta put in a plug for Craig Howard, Linfield class of 1974 and one of the Cats best all time linebackers.  He is now the head coach of Southern Oregon University who has made it to the first round of the NAIA playoffs this year. Coach Howard also, coached Tim Tebow during his Florida high school days.
