i am sure that you are glad that there is no trip to dover this year.  why would linfield not be able to host a semi.  they have video all the time, espn should be able to televise from there.  i agree that is would suck if you lost a home game in the semis due to tv.  good luck this year.  we got to beat umhb and then mount to get to the stagg, see you there.

Gotta put in a plug for Craig Howard, Linfield class of 1974 and one of the Cats best all time linebackers.  He is now the head coach of Southern Oregon University who has made it to the first round of the NAIA playoffs this year. Coach Howard also, coached Tim Tebow during his Florida high school days.
Plus K for the heads up on Coach Howard. Once a CAT, always a CAT:)
Go Cats! Make it 62 in '17!

Pat, I guess I missed something here....Why are we discussing that the Catdome might not be able to host at semi-final game.  We hosted one before.  Is there some rule change.  If it has to do with having facilities available for a broadcast setup that should be an easy work around unless the NCAA has got some highly specific requirements.

ESPN takes up a bit of space. That's all -- it's a new wrinkle we haven't had to deal with before 2011.

All this talk about ESPN is dumb! We own ESPN....... LOL!!!!  If they want the luv, we'll deliver!   :o

Honestly, even though I remember that press box being kind of cramped, I don't think it will be an issue. Wouldn't have said anything except someone else brought it up and asked for input.

What do you suppose the NCAA does with all those frequent flyer miles they build up?
Conferences in Hawaii?
Not DIII

There aren't any frequent flyer miles in the first round -- no miles on a charter flight.

yes, if they use my CC ?   "what's in your wallet" ;)

So, are you offering your credit card? ;D

i tried last year but "they" ;) sent us to Dover anyway?  we live on the west coast island .. 8-)

Yeah, no need to discuss that.  St. Thomas facilities should be just fine to host PLU in the semi-final. ;D

hey big boy ,,  we have been there done that ,,  not in DEC? ;)

Honestly, even though I remember that press box being kind of cramped, I don't think it will be an issue. Wouldn't have said anything except someone else brought it up and asked for input.

In preparing a bid to host a playoff game, there are 2 or 3 separate NCAA manuals that must be consulted to be sure one has covered all the required bases. Among the many requirements are satisfactory facilities for an ESPN broadcast. Having worked in the Linfield pressbox during the 2011 football season, it is highly unlikely that there is sufficient space for an ESPN crew.

While I hope the following is not true, my sources tell me that that (solely because of the ESPN requirements) Linfield has not submitted a bid for a semi-final game. If 'da boys take care of business and we should be so fortunate as to qualify for the semi's, we may experience a "CLU moment" when the location is announced.

Hopefully these are the same sources that told you that Linfield and CLU didn't play in 1982..... ;)  I'd prefer that CLU moment :)

If hosting the semi finals is contingent on expanding the size of the press box, I suggest we get out the hammers (we've got a month) and get busy expanding our facilities.  Remember the old saying...."Build It and They Will Come"....It will be an investment for years to come and just plain good for the Linfield image on the national stage~
