Wow - talk about taking it too far.  I can understand the ethical concerns about mascots like slave-owning 'Ole Miss' or Native American caricatures like 'Savages'...but animals?

Unfortunately, this "scholarly presentation" about the propriety of animal sports mascots is representative of the intellectual goofiness that pervades most US higher education. Apparently you don't keep up with this sort of thing. Don't you know that animals are people too?    You're probably a fellow-trogladyte that thinks he "owns" his pets...as I do.

When are they going to post the All NWC mascot team? Can't wait to see if the Wildcat is still #1 and if the Bearcat has moved up this year.

Let's see the NWC has Wildcats, Bearcats, Boxers (part dog/part dragon), Bruins (George Fox) and of course Lewis and Clark's canine companion. UPS needs to rid themselves of the "Loggers" moniker because loggers cut down trees. Whitworth's Pirates are no good because they are by all accounts scoundrels and thieves. And the Missionaries of Whitman are, well you all know how evil Missionaries are. Perhaps they should just be numbered 1 through 9.

Ok, non football, sorta, but it's been bugging me.

Whenever Wildcat11 has a post on my screen my computer slows to a crawl.  If there is two in a row, I can barely, get past them with page down.  I notice that RedandPurple has a similar, although not nearly as bad effect on my computer.  The only thing I can see is that they both have a moving "avatar" or whatever you call the image attached to a profile. 

Is there a setting I can change on my computer?  Any ideas?

Time to pack up the old heap and head to the Catdome this afternoon. 
My take is that the Cats are a +24 in this one.

The Salty D scores and the purple frisbees will be flying all over the yard.

Cats will stop the FTL run game early and the pickfest will start shortly after.

Is there a setting I can change on my computer?  Any ideas?

Yeah, I'm sure those dail-up 56k modem connections up there in the last frontier significantly limit your browsing speeds.  Any chance you can get into Anchorage and spend a few mintues at that one library computer with DSL?
