Thrilling victory at the CatDome.....great to see our guys withstand several forays by NCC, a top notch team. They were big and physical with an excellent running back. Nice to see the Wildcats doing well in the toughest bracket where no cupcakes get baked.

And
that's a great observation from a guy who sits in the stands the whole time.

newcardfan,
Thanks for the info.
Hope you enjoyed your trip to our little piece of paradise. Your boys played hard, BUT 7 T. O's. is hard
to over come. The Cat's D is playing really well right now and are making things happen.
Safe travels home
Go Cats!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

From the NCC football webpage: "Linfield is a great team," said North Central head coach John Thorne. "I thought their guys played hard. I think we're better than we showed today. Our guys were in finals all week and were just a little off today. Linfield played well and deserved to win this game for sure, but I don't think people got to see how well our players can actually play."

For those of you at today's game is this a fair observation?

Go Cats! Make it 62 in '17!

After watching(not in person)NCC play today, I sure hope so. It looked like they were playing their first game of the year!

I would agree. I think our guys let the opportunity for a big win slip right through their fingers. Turnovers kill! :'(

Hey...for whatever reason, NCC fell behind 14-0 and that was one of the keys to the game they could not afford.
They controlled the ball at the beginning of the game and kept the LINFIELD offense off the field.
The missed field goal was major in the momentum.
IMHO    8-)

Actually, it did look like their first game of the year. Except they had only 6 turnovers in that game.

Yeah---NCC froze their own kicker and it just went downhill from there....

NCC did play tough...much tougher than the score indicated...They've got my respect.  The Cats did force a number of those turnovers and missed a couple more.  The birds RB is a load and as good a back as I've seen in DIII.  Glad to be past this one.  Next week the Cats will need to be on their A game to win...but we know they can do it.
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

In 9 wins, NCC had 15 TOs; in 3 losses, they had 17 TOs.  Obviously the defenses had something to do with that, but a fair amount of them (including 3 or 4 today) were definitely giveaways rather than takeaways.  For whatever reason, some games they just get sloppy.

IF they can solve that problem, they will definitely join the elite of d3 (they significantly outdid Linfield today in both first downs and yardage); if not, they will forever be on thin ice against good teams (or even halfway decent ones like UW-LaCrosse).

Gig Harbor Cat

I was there today.  Hey coach, they played the way they did because of who they were playing.  Last time I checked all of the players on both sides of the ball are student athletes.
What happened is that the Cats out hit em, shut down the run game and put them in the air and as I said in a prior quote " thats when the fun begins "  Their QB was running for his life most of the day, and was taking huge hits ... Gotta say how impressed I was with their RB-- That young man is something special.

I had it as a +17 for the Cats and pretty much nailed it.
