GAME DAY!
And good morning to you Dens!  The Monrovia WILDCATS won their 3rd consecutive CIF championship last night (at home) so that has to be a good omen! :)

GO CATS!!!!!
Go Cats!

Funny thing last night.    My wife and some friends and I went to Basil's dining room in the Crown Plaza hotel in Lake Oswego.    We walked by the open area in the lobby and heard some usual noise in the bar area.

When we entered the dining room, there was a big sign: Welcome:  University Wisconsin - Oshkosh.    Then the waitress came out wearing an Oshkosh t-shirt.    We asked her if the team was staying there and she said Yes.    She also commented about there were all polite and nice gentlemen.

I wanted to go back to the lobby and bar area and chat with them.    But we were hungry so I waited until after dinner.   Unfortunately they had all left by then.

By the way, Basil's is a great restaurant.

What is the format for California High School Football?  How many divisions, etc?  I see various posts to CIF champions around the pages.  (minor sidebar to keep you occupied while you wait for the game).

Way back when I was playing (mid 90's) the state was divided into sections and each section was broken up into divisions.  The best you could do was win your division in your section.  Now, they've changed it so the winners of the division become eligible for a state championship playoff (but not every division winner gets selected)....I'm not sure how it goes from there.....

Thanks, good luck to the Cats today.  hopefully I can get back to my computer by game time.

Assuming a Cat win today (and being the optimist I am, I always assume a Cat win ;D) I hope that Pat Coleman and MonroviaCat are correct that Linfield will get to host next week. Let's have a great game today and no injuries.

At 10:00 am the sun is out, much of the sky is blue, slight breeze...it's a gorgeous day. Of course, this is Oregon so we might yet need our waders by game time.

Go Wildcats!!!

Way to blow your assignment George. You were sent to set off the fire alarm bells at 3 AM and instead you sit down to a fine meal.Sheesh!.

On that last possession, thought Linfield should have had a bit more urgency to get a few more yards. They picked up the first down at the 29 but then seemed content to only really go for one more play. UWO actually called timeout with 17 seconds left. I'm not sure how much time ran off, maybe it wasn't as much as I thought. But Linfield could have spiked it once the clock finally started following the 1st down. They completed one more pass to make it a shorter field goal but just seemed like maybe one more play could have made a big difference to get it closer.

Congrats to the Cats on another fine season.

What a tough loss, way too reminiscent of the 2010 overtime loss to the Tommies.
Congratulations to the Wildcats for another great year of championship football.

Let's reload for next year and give it our best again.

No doubt desert. Just seems like with college kickers you always go for as many yards as possible. And has nothing to do with D3 as there have been so many games that the same thing happened in Division I games last few years.

Regardless, there were 50 other things it sounded like hurt Linfield more than one play that might not have even picked up additional yardage. Tough way to lose; I mentioned on the MIAC board it also reminded me of the 2000 PLU-SJU game that went into OT and ended on an interception of a halfback pass. The call fit PLU's style but still seemed odd, bit like today's final one.

Congrats to the Cats on a fabulous season.   It was a hell of a game!  I would have been happy with you guys moving on as I think your team may be better built to give the Mighty Mount a game if able to take care of business next week.  But I have to support my conference rival as well.  Linfield is always a class program, top to bottom!  I am sorry for you, GHC, 11 and Tuxguy.  I hate when my friends aren't happy.   :'(
Hopefully my guys can reboot and a match up is in both of our futures.   :-*
