I'd love for the Cats to play a 10th game but only if it was a D3 team that was not a repeat of a conference game (Heck we had to do that last year for our 10th game).

Ya....seems like every year the NWC Champ either has to play a SCIAC Team or another NWC Team in the 1st round. Can't they get a little more creative and let the flies out of their wallet?

Whether it's a ninth game or a 10th game, I'd love to see Linfield play St. John's. Now that John Gagliardi isn't coaching anymore, I think they are in better position to take longer regular season trips.

In '08 and '09, we had two MIAC schools on the schedule (St. Olaf and Gustavus A.).  In addition to our regular tilt with CalLu, that's a lot of Lutheran potlucking.  We played Hamline for two years after that.

PC...I like the idea.
Please clarify the "they". John would not like to travel that far for a preseason game or LINFIELD was ducking a team they're 0-3 against.

Nobody would travel that far for a preseason game. It's ridiculous to travel that far for a scrimmage. However, for a non-conference game, like this would be, that's a different story.

My understanding is the non-conference schedule at SJU was highly dictated by the amount of time John G. was willing/able to sit in a bus. Understandable -- I hope I can do that at that age.

Understandably so.

What is not so understandable is my mental block between preseason and non-conference.
I get it eventually.
THX.

Linfield has lots of talented depth, and usually can reload.  It should schedule that 10th game, give up that extra bye, and give its fans another game to cheer about.

Many thanks for your advice about how to fix something that ain't broke. ;D

Many thanks for your thanks.   I seem to be channeling what some of the Wildcat faithful seem to want, a 10th regular season game.  Change isn't always bad. ;)

I can't say enough about the scoreboard intro that will be with us all season long. The LINFIELD football program has given me something to look forward to since I discovered I had duodenal cancer in March. I am in my third month of chemotherapy and I went to the gym today. If those guys can then I can along with them in my own way. 'CATS!

I had to admit, too, that that was pretty cool when I watched it this afternoon, even though I am a pretty neutral guy. :)

That's a big compliment.  Thanks, PC!

The scoreboard intro already has Southern Oregon choking on tailpipe.
