Quote of the day actually comes from Saturday from Puget Sound's head coach on L&C's Keith Welch.

"He is an all-time great Northwest Conference quarterback," Thomas said. "He literally is their whole offense."

Somebody send Coach Thomas an NWC history book ASAP.

I think that Coach Thomas is referring to the wrong record book on Welch.  He should study the MMA record book on Tap Outs, cause that is a record that he does hold !!

CATDOME, baby !!

OK...I left PLU's Sam Horn alone the 1st time around the block but this was awesome.

-The Wildcats even have three players who have transferred from large football schools. Two players on Linfield's roster are from Notre Dame and one player is from Portland State.

Yes, Linfield has players on their roster from Notre Dame...Notre Dame High School in SoCal.   ::)

The NWC now has three teams in the D3Football.com top 25--Linfield, PLU, and Willamette.  The Bearcats managed to sneak in to #25 without playing a game, while the Lutes dropped from 11 to 15 by playing one.  Maybe the Bearcats should go to a 7 or 8 game schedule, instead of the previous 10 or current 9 games.   ;)

Sam Horn missed Josh Hill who apparently transferred from Air Force, plus one other from PSU, TE Meng from OSU, and another from Montana.  Even Notre Dame HS seems to be a football power in its league.  Nothing wrong with intense recruiting if you want to be a football power.

Point taken.  However, there is a difference when comparing QBs who have a supporting cast and QBs who don't.   Would  the great NWC QBs of the past have been as good without great receivers, offensive lines that protected them, and a defense that gave the offense a chance to score points and keep the team in the game?

River,

That's a valid point but it's a bad statement from a coach that hasn't been around the conference for very long.  Just because he's slaughter a terrible team for 3 years doesn't put him the same breath as Weekly, Elliott, Johnson, Lindley, Schmidlin, Boehme, Pinkerton, etc.

We also have a couple players from Wasilla, Alaska that might know Sarah Palin.

The Warriors weren't able to pull out a win against the Moose:

Nice looking group.

After listening to the "always awaited" D3 podcast I was impressed with something different.
It is clear that the NWC is not just on the radar but moving towards true recognition for excellence way out (North)West.  Three undefeated...Three in the top 25, with a fourth getting votes!
When I heard Keith say..." The Linfield defense is DARN GOOD..." it was clear that we have arrived!
Please don't regard my comments as anything more than they are...they are welcome and long awaited in my mind from someone who has been carefull about acknowledging anything that is not well earned over time.  I respect that and again, I'm very happy to hear the words.

Yes, the 'Cat has got my tongue.  Very impressive showing by Yoder/Hill (I was warned) and the defense.

No, the Lutes didn't want that 4th quarter to last any longer this time 'round.

Alas, this is one category in which we cannot claim superiority over PLU. I believe I noticed at least two Wasilla, Alaska players on the PLU roster for last Saturday's game.  ;D
