Going to try to stay up and watch the Whitworth vs. Willamette game. Is this game worth staying up for? I really want to see Willamette, but is kind of worried it won't be as competive, since Whitworth has taken some tough losses. Any thoughts?
It shoudn't be much of a match.  I think Willamette has a good offense and will overwhelm the Rats defense (if they show up at all).  On the flip side, Willamette seems like they can be run on so maybe the Rats will gain some yards on the ground with their 2 running plays (left and right).  It's Friday night so you might well live it up and stay up late hunched in front of the computer watching! :)

Thanks! +K
I'd say I pretty much called that...no?
Go Cats!

Yep, that's the book on both teams in a nutshell.   Terrible match up for Whitworth as their secondary hasn't been very good this season.

river

The Boxer offense was clicking today.  The Boxer subs played the entire second half.  The game with PLU will provide some answers on how far Pacific U. has come.

I posted similar sentiment on the in game update board.  Lots of good games still to go in the conference.  Pacific vs Willamette, Pacific vs PLU, Willamette vs PLU.

No offense to the Wildcats, I just figure they'll win out but if Pacific should win the above two it will make for a great scene at Pacific for that last game of the season.

River,

I think many top 25 voters (including myself) are holding out their opinion on Pacific until they play PLU.  I think the Lutes will win that game but if they slip or Richey turns it over in bunches then Pacific is capable of winning that game.

Speedy,

Yeah, the last 5 weeks of the regular season should be great with Linfield/PLU/Willamette all being ranked and Pacific making waves.  Lots of story to be told and believe two playoff bids are waiting for the NWC to take.

....let's just hope that the first round of the playoffs doesn't feature a lame rematch of 2 NWC teams again.   :P

D O.C.

Trouble is it would be a good game .... and cheap.

The West is crawling with hornets nests again.

My feeling is that unless one of the three teams can finish with only the loss to Linfield, we'll only get the one auto bid.  That is, our second place team needs to be a one loss team.  Especially with the three WIAC teams doing so well.

Winner of Willamette PLU will get a bid. Pacific is not going to beat any of the top 3 teams. Whitworth is bad. PLU and Willamette are both at least 30 points better. Pacific is slightly better than the Pirates which really isn't saying much.

Whoever finishes second will only have the loss to Linfield. It'll be enough.

Rat:

What ever happened to QB Zach Hill, who started against CU
2 years ago as a freshman?
Just curious, as I had met his Dad at the game.

I hope you are right, and suspect that you are.  Pacific is improved and that is good but they really haven't beaten any quality teams.  This week is the big game at PLU and the Lutes cannot overlook them.  They will be looking to prove how much they have improved.

That Pacific/PLU game all comes down to the PLU offense.  If they stall and sputter then Pacific will have a shot.

It will also be very interesting to see if Pacific can move the ball on the PLU defense. I'm not sure they've faced that good of a defense yet?
