This week another BIG GAME for the Lutes.  Unfortunately this time AT Willamette.  I don't know if my Lutes can keep up with that Bearcat offense.  So the Lutes defense needs to show up and slow them down in order for PLU to get the win.  With the game in Salem, I'd say the Bearcats are slight favorites.

Willamette has to be the most under-rated team in the Top 25.
5-0 and all but one easy wins.   Plus their offense is scoring at the same clip as my Linfield.   My bet is they could beat many teams ranked above them.   Beware of the Bearcats.

New poll is out.
Wouldn't it be fun to watch PLU and St. Johns in the playoffs again?

Yes.

Just keep in mind that their Defense is near the bottom in yards allowed (primaryily on the ground and they have given up 27 points per game).  They can score, but they have not exactly been stopping their opponents....and most those have not exactly been top notch teams--will be interesting to see how they matchup against PLU, Linfield, and Pacific.....they have a bottom heavy schedule this year so while they may be under-rated---it's hard to tell based on their early season performance. (IMO)

Willamette vs PLU...another piece to this year's puzzle.

PLU's offense has been in the tank since Linfield walloped 'em.  I think the early money is on Willamette but I'm interested to see how the Bearcats handle a pretty stout defense in PLU.

True, but don't take too much credit. The Bluegolds shut us out for the last 30 mins the week before. I'm not sure what the hang-ups have been. I expected a bit more from the offense given all the flashes last year from the young talent.

Missing your big running back (James)? Seems like the Lutes can't finish their drives and are turning the ball over too much.....

Yeah, I do think the James injury hurts a bit.  From what I understand, he did more of the north-south 'between the tackles' running.  Madison was the east-west, misdirection, speed sweep, get-out-in-space guy.  Now Madison gets the bulk of the carries.

I just thought we were very young last year and assumed some of the penalties, turnovers, and stalled drives would fade away with more experience.  But you know what they say about assuming...

I'd agree that Willamette is probably the slight favorite in this one.  But the Lutes will be the best team they've faced so far (especially on defense) and will come to battle.  Should be a great match-up.

Great job by the Cats, taking down the Rats on their home turf.  It never seems to be an easy task over there, but the boys got it done.  Now its time for Lewinsky and Clark.  I have Welch the LC QB tapping out with 6:34 of the second quarter, with some sort of "I don't want to play these guys injury".  Probably will be spending most of his limited day swimming in the Catdome  sharK tank !!!  As usual All of the boys and I will be on the far sidelines to offer words of encouragement to Mr Welch.  .

Cats roll on again,  scoring on their D is like practice against ghost !!

8-)You show more confidence in Welch than I do.

Heads up for any PLU fans coming down to Salem this weekend: in addition to the new turf, there's one other significant change that was made at McCulloch Stadium this summer.  Seating for visiting fans has been moved to the far end of the grandstand, or the third stairwell up to the stands.  What used to be visitor's seating (the near end of the grandstand) is now the student section.

Should be a fun one on Saturday!
