Division III runs deficit I say trickle down from the Florida State / Miami proceeds.

PLU doesn't want to play Linfield because they'd like a shot at winning their first round game.

What the NCAA should do is send Redlands up to PLU and send a MN/WI team to Linfield. Then you can send the Lutes down to McMinnville  for their 2nd round beating.

Question: if St. Scholastica came to OR would Linfield put 100 on them instead of showing mercy like they did against the conference opponent from Portland?
Of course, Redlands already played PLU and lost....so that would still be a rematch with a flight to boot.  I kind of think if they don't rematch PLU and Linfield then they will fly Redlands to Linfield and PLU would get sent somewhere.....

Yeah, Redands at Linfield, PLU anywhere else.

What about corporate sponsors? I know this is happening at the D3 level with general expenses for some athletic departments. Kind of like WalMart moving in to the community and pricing out all the small businesses.

Huh? I don't understan your comment.  Did DOC take over your account  ;D

Careful!  I didn't understand it either.

Here's a controversy brewing:

I saw that and it made me chuckle.  Probably should have just taken a knee....good intentions with hurt feelings results.

Bigger news is that UPS is doing what UPS did last year and that's play terrible football but they start having some good showings against the best teams on their schedule towards the end of the year.

What a crock!  I'm not for running up the score at all, but it doesn't look like it to me.  UPS called 3 timeouts on that short PLU drive.  Obviously they didn't think the game was over and they thought they still had a chance.  Up only 2 scores I say punch it in.

How about a coach gives his qb a heads up on the intent of the play and orders to drop if anything else happens?
UPS should be miffed they were an experiment to get a guy a score who couldn't get one in the previous four years.

I don't know how he'd do that?

Now if we'd put a lineman in to "get his TD", I'd agree, that's rubbing it in.  On the other hand.  It appears the Lutes need to figure out how to score in close, we seem to pass alot when most teams would just punch it in.

They should have taken a knee.  I said the same in the in-game updates when it happened.  I think Coach Thomas has a point.

Frosty/Scott hated/hate taking a knee and typically just run fullback dives instead.  But that doesn't always have the same effect, eh?  Like yesterday when Ritchey ends up running another one in.  Or last year at L & C:  Scott called a FB dive but Ritchey saw that the Pio CB was playing 1-on-1 coverage and shading the outside of Warner.  So he audibles to a quick slant, and they throw for a pointless TD with under a minute left.  Sure, they rushed over and apologized/explained to the Pio staff (and it was a pretty smart audible if they were trying to store).  But just take a knee and both teams understand you are trying to end the game with class.

Dtrain, I saw your post yesterday, thought about including it in my post but figured you'd step in.  Honestly at that point in the game I was barely paying attention to the internet broadcast.  I didn't know the clock time and since UPS kept trying to stop the clock, I thought nothing of the play except that we should be trying to score.  IMO if the other team is stopping the clock to get the ball back then the offense should take every effort to score, regardless of the point spread.  But I wasn't there.

And I see a big difference between running a dive and audibleing to a pass play.

"...two weeks left and down to Linfield, Pacific and PLU...."

Just on paper ;D ;D ;D
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

I don't see anything wrong with it. Just like I don't see anything wrong with Linfield dropping 70 on L&C at the half. If you all were really as concerned with "sportmanship" as you're claiming, you'd have wanted Linfield to start kneeling in the 2nd quarter...

but I think deep down we all realize this is sport at the college level and it's not about people's feelings. I'd like to think that as an adult male I'm capable of losing a football game without ruining my life, heck, wouldn't even ruin my weekend. Even if the team decides to rub in the fact that they are better than you. Who cares?
