Cat fans, why do you call your stadium the "Catdome"?

I don't know the origins but the nickname was around in the mid 90's when I was at Linfield.  Whatever the original intent of the nickname it's evolved into a shorthand way of a Linfield person expressing their appreciation or excitement of the culture and values of the program (Team Excellence, Attitude, Class), identifying yourself as a Linfield person, or the actual location/facility of Maxwell Field/Memorial Stadium.
I'm glad I waited for 11 to answer this one---he did a much better job then I would have! :)

We've had discussions about this in the past....one other idea was that there is an invisible "dome" encompassing Maxwell Field that enlightens the fans and players with the mystique of all the generations of Wildcat athletes and fan karma, past present and future as a positive and uplifting force behind the Linfield Experience. Very similar to what Wildcat11 said but with a little visual dimension thrown in.
Gee Blue--now you kind of make it sound like Stephen King's book/TV show.... ;)

GHC and DOC told me they came up with the name to confuse and piss off Willamette ;D

I'm pretty sure it had to do with the huge rivalry between PLU and Linfield that at times was held at the Tacoma Dome when it was PLUs turn to host.  They had the Tacoma Dome so we had the 'Catdome...

First post... so excuse any funky elements  ;)

I could be wrong but I do not think that it is has been mentioned as yet that the Loggers have two members of their coaching staff that are former CAT players and both graduates of the LC Physical Education program. Out of respect, I would like to mention both of them who were truly  great representatives of the Linfield student athlete community.

Thomas Ford is now the Logger Defensive Coordinator. He was Special Teams Coordinator for Puget Sound in 2012. More importantly, he was one of the CAT Captains on our 2004 National Championship team. He also holds the CAT all-time one game rushing record and was named all-conference multiple times. Joining Thomas is Dan Lever, a former CAT back from Canby High School. He was known as Mr. Inspiration, or perhaps just, Mr. Energy. Dan is the Line Coach for the Loggers. Dan has a rich Linfield football connection, in part, because the Cat Dome is located on Lever Street, named after his grandfather who was a Linfield grad as well. If you are fortunate to be at the Cat Dome on Saturday, go out of your way to say hello to both these former CAT players and pay your respects. Go Cats!
Welcome aboard my wildcat friend. Knew about Ford but wasn't aware about Lever. I do hope they can help right the ship.

Sounds very reasonable and would make perfect sense.
