what about the machine only 16 points in the first half today? :o
yeah against a mediocre opponent

Podcast listeners know about the history of Mount Union and Baldwin Wallace games. They've been like that before and Mount Union has still won the national title.

I'm sick and tired of the crowd who says that we have to quit
scoring and run out the clock, because we don't want to hurt the feelings of the losing team.
I fully understand that point of view that says we must be good sports
and run out the clock.

But what about us scrubs?  I remember when I suited up to play football in
high school after mucho hours on the practice field trying as hard
as I could, but rarely getting to see much game time.

We usually got our heads handed to us and the game was out of reach
by the end of the first half or middle of the third quarter.  But the
coaches wouldn't admit defeat until the last 2-3 minutes and then
throw us bench warmers a few seconds of playing time...but it was
great to get on the field, even if all the fans had already gone
home.  At least I knew my dad was still there and I was on the field.
All of that practice payed off, if but for a few fleeting moments.

Don't kids like me deserve a chance to play the game?  Why can't
I get a chance to catch a pass...but no..our feelings have to
be spared...what an insult...I will determine my own feelings...I
just want to play.

Obviously we weren't going to win, but there was
still plenty of playing time for us scrubs to play....accept no....we
had to run out the clock...somebody's feeling
might get hurt...what a crock...

I don't remember once ever having a conversation with one of
my team mates about how our feelings were hurt getting
thoroughly thrashed....No the conversation was about, "Did
you get to play" and what happened when we did get those precious
few moments.

Give us scrubs a chance to play...
We are out there every day for practice doing our jobs as
the scout team, playing backup while the starters get a rest, etc...

Give us scrubs a chance to play...From my experience, it's only the people on the
sidelines and in the stands who are worrying about their
precious feelings and reputations.  I say to them, "Let the kids play and for cryin
out loud, don't run out the clock on us."
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

I'll let Dan Hawkins take it from here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=je-gpy6Y_UA&t=0m46s

Go play intramurals brotha.

West regional playoff prediction:

PLU (4) @ Linfield (1)      Why?   Travel costs
St. Norbert @ UW-Oshkosh (3)    Why?   UW-Oshkosh is my 3rd seed team.

Redlands @ Wartburg    Why?   Either could be home game, but NCAA will hope for a Wartburg win, to minimize 2nd round travel cost.
St. Scholastica @ Bethel (2)    Why?   Bethel is my 2nd seed.

UW-WW goes to the North region.  Six of the above eight have automatic bids, being conference champions.   Two loss teams do not make the West Region playoffs, if not conference champion.

Of course, an unexpected upset next Saturday would change things.

George....are you assuming a Bethel loss to SJU?

George....are you assuming a Bethel loss to SJU?
no---he's just homering a little too much on Linfield! :)  If Bethel lost to St. Johns I think 2 things happen... 1) St. Johns gets a pool C spot and 2) Bethel drops out of the top 2 spots....
Go Cats!

bluenote

So you're thinking there will be spots open in C Pool for 2 loss teams?

I'd switch the Linfielf & Bethel seeds, but that's just my homerism v. yours  ;D And I love the CSS matchup 1st Rd!

Seriously though, I could see a bracket like this. Part of me wonders if they wouldn't send Wartburg to the North and send IWU West to host Redlands. Just to balance the brackets. Sending UWW North usually means we're getting someone back in return.

Missed the first week of the SCIAC pick 'ems and a week in either WIAC or NWC :( I figure if I forget all three this week I'll finish last in each ;D Wonder if that would be a first? I'd hate to see my friend Bluenote finish last.

MonroviaCat

Fun Fact:  The Cats have scored more points in two different games (Lewis and Clark and UPS) than they have allowed all season (77).  Yes I'm a little bored today.....

No.   They should both be unbeaten.   I respect Bethel and all other West Region playoff teams.   But, this Wildcat squad should beat them all.   In fact, I will go out a limb and predict they win the Stagg Bowl!    This is a very powerful Linfield team.
