If I remember correctly back in the 16 team NAIA II bracket years to guarantee a spot in the playoffs a conference champion needed to be ranked in the top 25.  If they weren't then their spot became an at large which they were still eligible to receive.  If DIII were to adopt a similar criteria that would seem to force teams and conferences to both schedule stronger non conference games and or improve the strength of their conference on a team by team basis.  As it stands a lot of the AQ conference champions are simply first or second round cannon fodder.

It would be interesting to review not only a conferences playoff record but also the average margin or win/loss in each round.  This would give a good picture of the relative strength of each conference.  Those results would be included in the seeding and selection criteria.  It would also be interesting to determine how relevant SOS and WARRO are to playoff success.  This could be compared to the DIII Top 32 to see which measures are more meaningful.

As it stands we have the equivalent of 16 seeded teams playing 1 seeds in the NCAA men's basketball tournament where the 16 seed is an AQ who is happy to be there and hardly ever competitive.

Got my bracket in to the D3 Bracket Challenge this morning. I have the CATS in the final vs. ....
The Journey to Salem begins Saturday and there will be no easy outs along the way for the CATS. The Lutes will be one of the tougher ones. Been there and done. As I recall, all playoff game live video has a fee. Correct?

Anybody know if we will have the announcers we are used to on the feed or will we have the student announcers like last year (2 years?) in the playoffs?
