Other boards are going to catch the 2009 Stagg Bowl reference as well.

No, that was the snowmobile skating contest matchup in Wisconsin.

did you catch the error in that story---I'll give you a hint it had the year 2009 in it...

I see these sort of errors quite often when larger media outlets are forced to do stories on D3 sports.

They seem to have a hard time checking their facts.

Wednesdays so boring!

Lemme reflect...Frosty passed away and I pay my respects again. Dedicating a season or a game to him is swell. But remember, nolutes, there's some mojo at the Catdome as well.

Time passes slower during the playoffs---I think this is a scientific fact.   ::)

DIII Playoff Scientific fact number one - Time passes slower.
DIII Playoff Scientific fact number two - The West coast is an island.
DIII Playoff Scientific fact number three - Mt. Union gets the path of least resistance to the Stagg Bowl.
DIII Playoff Scientific fact number four - (your turn)

DIII Playoff Scientific fact number one - Time passes slower.  YES
DIII Playoff Scientific fact number two - The West coast is an island two islands and so is Texas!
DIII Playoff Scientific fact number three - Mt. Union gets the path of least resistance to the Stagg Bowl. Yes, but let's not go there again, please (?)
DIII Playoff Scientific fact number four - The system in place is better than anything the Big Boys (D1) have or are planning to have--let us all be thankful for that!

1. Entirely true if you have a team in the playoffs.  Otherwise not.  (I've been fortunate enough to have them in 3 of the past 5 years, but the other two I had little trouble almost forgetting playoffs were occurring!)
2. Alas, totally true (this year to the detriment of PLU and Linfield).  The same is also true for Texas.
3. Actually a matter of opinion, not fact; but most years I agree.  This year they would have to lay a monumental egg to not make the semis.
4. I got nuthin', except that the tourney may get even MORE unbalanced as Pool As grow and Pool Cs shrink.  We have now reached the point where I think a potential Stagg Bowl participant may miss the tourney entirely.  Probably not, but what if a Wabash, St. Thomas, UW-Oshkosh, Heidelberg, etc., got on a roll?  I'd like to see some try at a system where everyone has a known shot at the playoffs, but conferences with Pool As who do not achieve some criterion (or criteria) lose their AQ and get 'dumped' into Pool C (thus increasing the number of C bids).

After having to rematch a conference opponent for two years in a row I'm kind of swinging the other direction in getting rid of pool C altogeather---if you can't win your conference then you miss the playoffs, but that's really just me being sick of the rematches (PLU OR CalLu...).  I get what you are saying for sure but I also think the current system allows for more exposure for teams to see other teams from around the nation (and to get to travel to some places they may not have been).  When you get down to it, it seems like most years you have anywhere from 2-6 teams that are probably gonna make a run at the Stagg....just my thoughts of course.

Talking about DI.....is it true that next year will be a 4 team playoff....or did I hear somebody being delusional....

Can't really argue with you (you being on an  'island'); but Pool Cs often go DEEP into the tourney.  Not sure whether a C has won (or even made the Stagg), but I know they are often better than a helluva lot of AQs.

I do deeply regret the Linfield /PLU rematches.  Can't you get one of those Amazon or Starbucks guys to make a different result happen.  Or how about Microsoft or Boeing; somebody must have some money left. :D
