Maybe I'm missing reading your post but you come across as being a big pain in the a$$.
I'll give you the benefit of doubt and suggest that in fact I'm reading more into your post than was meant.
We'll get on the plane Thursday afternoon and arrive in time to have dinner and drinks, probably more of the latter.
Look forward to the McMinnville experience and watching "real" D3 football.

RFB

The last east coast team that got sent to the CatDome got boat raced 52-0. Rowan came in confident too if I remember correctly. Sorry HS fans, the NWC plays a different level of football.

My prediction:

Linfield: 42
HS: 10

Thoughtful comments TigerFan. All of what you say is true. We all know this is what makes every game in every sport so fun and exciting. And, the most important thing is respect...respect for yourself, your teammates, your team. your opponents, their team and the coaches and officials. However, I still have to set the record straight for your sidekick HSCTigerFan.

HSC, here some other thoughts on your recent post regarding the HSC running game:
1) Nance actually (680 total yards) outgained Macko (568 total yards); 2) By the nature of his position Nance accumulated a fair number of negative yards that impacted his net yardage and yes, Macko did outgain Nance in the net yard gained category; 3) Of course, in your 52-0 blowout win over Guilford, Macko was still running the ball all through the fourth quarter. Nance was on the bench, and 4) the CATS total yards rushing were 30% more than the Tigers (2916 to 2042), their net rushing yards were 33% more than the Tigers, and the CATS have scored 40% more rushing touchdowns than the Tigers (48 to 29). It is what it is. Drilled.

I do respect your effort and passion. It is all in fun!

Actually your are wrong about Macko. He did not play at the end of the game at Guilford. Your right about the 33% more rushing. You failed to mention that we have 33% more passing.  And have scored 20% more passing TDs. You stated - outside of Nance our running has been ineffective. That is a false statement.

Some Linfield wise acre came onto the WIAC board a couple of days ago and suggested we chill and have a burger at The Deluxe. Seems like that advice might apply to this board as well right now.  ;D

Oops went on memory. Should have looked it up. Maybe you can look up how many of those 2900 plus yards you guys keep talking about came in 4th quarter in blow out wins.

Linfield has the better team. If we go by stats, ratings and any other measuring stick, Linfield wins in a blow out. The game is not played on paper, if it was HSC should stay at home and enjoy Thanksgiving with family and friends. Our chances are slim but we do have that chance. Time will tell if the outcome is decided by the obvious or by factors not accounted for on a spreadsheet. A HSC win would probably be the biggest upset in D3 history, but they have that opportunity. One cannot successfully argue that Linfield is not the better team/program. History/performance speaks for itself. What is so great about sports is the best team does not always win; the underdog has a chance; App. St. beat Michigan/JMU beat Va. Tech/Boise St beat Okla.,Cal Lu beat Linfield once and still tries to sell the program on that win in 2010. We'll see if HSC has it in them to pull a major upset. Lets face it, if that were to happen it might be the biggest upset in D3 history but HSC must cling to that possibility. All of this other info is fun to read but reality is very clear to me  relative to this matchup.

D O.C.

This has been the best two days on this board in 2013. Thank you all.

Out of the 4,858 total yards Linfield has gained over 10 games, 1,070 of those yards (22%) happened in the 4th quarter.

....that's a different poll....never seen that one before?

Don't confuse a computer ranking with a poll. Call those what they are: rankings.

Also, don't confuse the "final 16" with the "top 16" -- each team got here in a different way. Almost nobody who is still alive played a ranked team last week, but Linfield did.

I understand very well that it's the final 16. But by virtue of the way the tournament is structured by the NCAA, by default we are one of the best 16 because no others are playing.

Yeah, no -- still not true.

Your team doesn't own the phrase "expect to win". We expect it too.

As a fan of the Oxy Tigers (the only SCIAC team to have ever won playoff games), I attended two NCAA playoff games in McMinnville. In 2004 my Tigers were swamped by Linfield 56-27. In 2005 they were pasted by the Wildcats 63-21.

The Hampden-Sydney coat of arms has the Greek words of John 8:32: "Ye shall know the truth."

Yes ye shall, but enjoy the trip to Linfield anyway.

Thanks 11 for providing the facts. We were on the same page with the play-by-play stat from the HSC team page. It is what it is. Leave no doubt, go CATS!

And, oh by the way HSCTF, most of the CAT rushing yards late in the game(s) were generated by our back-up running backs. Of course, by not calling any pass plays and just running the ball helped keep the score down and use up the clock so as not to totally embarrass our opponents while giving our back-ups some good experience.
