I knew that would get you guys fired up.

I've had so much fun this week hanging on your board. Can I come back next year and just always be the guy pulling against you?  That way you'll always have someone to talk smack to. The ODAC board is great but this one is a lot more fun.
yes we need that as most of the posters from other nwc teams don't stick around! Speedy and dtrain excluded
Go Cats!

Nash Nance is a good stage name....

http://www.hsc.edu/The-Record/2012-September/Nash-Nance-the-new-QB.html

With all the stats and info you we've discussed I'm actually surprised that no one had not pointed this out sooner. Nash is the real deal - Rivals 3 Star recruit coming out of high school.  I have no doubt Yoder is every bit as talented.  I have really enjoyed the back and forth we've had on this board the last few days. I love my team, you love yours. If I give it I expect to get it back. I tend to be more the politically incorrect guy on the ODAC board.  Thus my 50/50 in the Karma. There's really not a lot of zings over there. I call it the sweetest board ever.

We'll arrive Thursday. Any suggestions for Friday activities. Please don't suggest visiting a winery to sip wine.

I'm sure the Oregon guys have a lot of things you could do but for me..... next time I'm in McMinnville I'm making a trip to the Evergreen Aviation Museum to see Howard Hughes Spruce Goose.
...and don't forget I can get you in free :) Save the money and get your pic taken in the cockpit of the Spruce Goose.

Here's all you want to know about HSC v. Linfield from the HSC viewpoint (all 27 pages).

In all honesty I rather not play in the icebox, I'd rather see someone new like Franklin....but I definitely don't want to miss the Mount...although I'm not convinced they can get past Bethel or NCC...Fortunately time will tell.

Here's hoping that the actual Wildcat team isn't as cocky as many of its supporters.

Cocky?  I guess.  However, this core group of Linfield posters have been some of the most loyal and and supportive Wildcat fans I know.  Even during the "lean" 6-3 years when Coach Smith first took over the program these posters didn't waver and didn't fade into the night.  There are examples over and over again of lots of smack talk during the build up of a big game and lots of compliments and congratulations to the 'Cats opponent from these Linfield posters in victory and defeat.

People can label this group anyway you want, but to me, the Linfield fans on here make this board and the d3football community a better place (even if we get out of hand from time to time).

Personally I have found bantering back and forth with you guys great fun. I expect to get it as much as I give. No one, at least to me, has made personal attacks. You guys have a lot to be proud of with regards to your team. We have not had any national tournament success until this past Saturday but we still have loyal fans that love our Tigers. Each of the last 3 or 4 years we have averaged over 5000 fans per game. Second most in D3. That more impressive considering our enrollment (1100) and the remoteness of our campus. I hope we have 100 to 150 travel to this game. With it being Thanksgiving weekend I'm not sure.

Your website lists your attendance at just under 3700 per game.  That may be second in d3 but i don't know where you get that from.  3700 is impressive for such a small school but REMOTENESS, cmon, you are in Virginia, nothing is remote in Virginia.  Although you are only about 6 miles from Farmville.   ;

I did not look at this year. I'm surprised it's that low. Here are the attendance numbers since 2009. Farmville has has a population of 8000.

2012 - 6723 3rd in NCAA
2011 - 7997 1st in NCAA
2010 - 7024 2nd in NCAA
2009 -, 4765 2nd in NCAA.

If this sort of thing interests you, Google Nash Nance and read a few articles. Pretty interesting. His journey to HSC reminds me a little of Brett Elliott's journey to Linfield. Here is just an example:

Keys to the game.

- Linfield D v. Nance & Walker. Pressure and contain the former, force HSC to beat you by taking away the latter.
- How the HSC front 7 holds up. There is a distinct size advantage for the Linfield Oline...if they can't stop the run, they're in for a long day. This front seven is very small.

George Thompson

I just noticed that H-S lost to Shenandoah,  a 4-6 record team.   When was the last time Linfield lost to a team with a losing record?

Once in the last 15 years: vs. Willamette in 2007---by one point!   And never when we made the playoffs.   All of our losses have been against very tough teams.

But do not underestimate H-S.   Since 2002, they have had many good winning years.
And anytime you get a D-1 transfer QB, be alert.   We know that well.

When it is all said and one, Linfield will win, maybe big.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!    And H-S team and fans, travel safely.

GO CATS! GO!

George: I noticed the six (6) interceptions that Nance threw in their two losses.

OldCatProf: I think that was Oxy (the game before Rowan) in 2004 that tried that funky defense that allowed Elliott to throw the 64 yard bomb to Casey Allen (I think) in the first minute of the game.

River: thanks for the link to the HSC book  ;) ; impressive publication HSC

WC11: great preview (as usual); very neutral (sort of), fair and objective (as usual); very conservative prediction (as usual). Love your work!

I think GHC and I are more realistic: CATS by 40 (GHC) or 52-14 (mine).

WC11,

You made reference in your nice preview to the fact that Linfield gets to "host another playoff game." This got me to thinking about all the teams that the CATS have played host to in recent years. This is certainly part of the tradition and experience that the CATS bring to the table each post-season. For example, there were 32 teams in the 2013 playoffs. Since 2002, the CATS have hosted eight (8) of these 32 teams. The list of teams that have visited the CatDome since 2002 are: Redlands, Rowan, North Central, Wartburg, UWW, PLU, MHB and on Saturday HSC. Pretty impressive list. Tradition and experience make a difference!

Happy Thanksgiving to all.  :)
