GHC
Thanks so much, GHC, you were amazing support throughout that horrible ordeal.   Sorry, I know I just blew your cover on here!   ;D But to be clear, I was referring to his being 5 years out of football.  Only 3 1/2 to 4 years, (depends on which Oncologist you talk to,) out from cancer but we'll take it.   I'll give him your best at tailgating Saturday.   :-* :-*

Any way you score it 413 its all good !!

Good luck to all you "Cats'" fans this weekend! And to those going back for the game and festivities this weekend, I wish you safe travels. Bring home a convincing victory!

All you Cat fans do is use injuries as an excuse and complain about having to travel to a lower ranked team. Quit whining, man up and play some football!

We saw that video! It gives us great incentive to not have to punt!  ;)

I'll tell you what Whitewater WON'T be practicing. A fake punt inside their own 30 yard line with a double digit second-half lead.  ???

Still scratching my head over that Hampden-Sydney play. It's like they said "Here Linfield, we want to let you back into the game."

That's Coach Favret's play calling. All of us in the ODAC have seen it over the years. Aggressive doesn't describe it. Sometimes it works. I absolutely respect what Coach Favret has done with the HSC program over the years, but I think we all scratch our heads at least once a game. Of course, when it works, we all swear into our sleeves as well. I won't hazard a guess as to whether it works more than it fails, but I will say HSC has won 4 of the last 7 ODAC titles...

I know I'm really late to the party and this is probably a dead horse, but I finally have time to catch up on things.   Watched the punt return video last night.   Wow.   That was PERFECT blocking.  Clean and devastating.

For those people complaining about the hits, I suggest you switch to watching soccer.

For those kids that got laid out, I suggest you pay attention on the football field or switch to playing soccer.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

olddog

1) I have never seen three guys get laid out in one play...
2) Are the players ok, anyone know?
3) Linfield does an interesting move, lead with fore arm but finish with shoulder and head in the chest. I am not going to debate it but one of the hits could have been called, second one toke arm lead , I need a better angle. I like what LF teaches their kids, to make it a tough call on the ref.
4) I agree, how can you be on the play and not glance out of the corner of your eye....I think when I played crack backs were legal and we kept our head on the swivel, in fact practiced reading it.

Now we're talking.
Most of the guys on the punt coverage team are on the kick coverage team, which is where UWW is really allocating special team's practice time.

It will be interesting to see if the Linfield kick return guys can block fast moving targets  :D

emma17

Seems like Linfield gets off to a fast start and the backups score quite a bit.
UWW is stingy throughout, but especially as the game is on the line.

Score by quarters  1st     2nd  3rd   4th       Total
UW-Whitewater     108    162  75    112      457
Opponents              32    31    17     10       90

SCORE BY QUARTERS   1st   2nd  3rd    4th    Total

E-17 good to hear the hawks are allocating PT to kick coverage this week...I understand that was the same thing the Tigers did last week in their game planning  :'(

One thing that should be kept in mind in this conversation about coverage teams staying aware is that in the playoffs, sometimes you have guys on kick coverage who haven't played there most of the season. With just 58 guys on the playoff roster, some guys are playing double duty.

That's a great point and not one that I had thought of.  Perhaps 11 or somebody else could comment on this.  If that was a "new" return team last week then it really made the blocking that much more impressive IMO.
Go Cats!
