Now I'm not fishing for karma here, I just want to say- Peterson's catch was way more the Play of the Week than an intercepted two-point conversion.  Granted the UMHB kid made a nice catch, but nothing like what Peterson had to do.

Agreed but I understand why Pat and his crew made the selection they did.  EP's catch was ridiculous and on a very good corner as well.

I did feel like this deep in the playoffs we had to go with a play from a team that advanced.

I concur, it was a far better individual play.   But, I also understand why Pat and the D3 team made their decision.

Ok...in order to be a more better student of the game I have a question.

I tried doing my homework about the playoffs, the selection process, SOS, Etc, etc.

Cutting straight to the question would be if UWW and UMHB were both #1 seeds, both undefeated and the main difference I can conjure from my limited knowledge base is that UWW has a (much) higher SOS rank.
How is home or away decided in this (or any other case for that matter)???

I got nothing better to think about for awhile....

One would assume that the #1 seeds are actually seeded 1-4 and that the higher seed is then the home team.  That being said--I'm not really sure how UMHB was the higher since I think WW had better SOS and more wins against ranked opponents.....I suspect there may have been some thinking that the new CRU=Thedral was too good a venue not to host....but who knows....nobody that's gonna tell us anything for sure.

Follow the money......unfortunately the way the "committee" works is kind of like the NSA. They do what ever they want, for what ever reason they want and they aren't accountable to anyone.

I did find it funny that they set up the brackets based off of SOS, and the other hard criteria, but they made UWW go to UMHB when UWW was around 50 places higher in this year's final SOS.  I would love to know the reasoning for making UWW travel (not that it matters).

While we may never know for sure, I suspect the decision was (ironically ;)) based on the "Whitewater Rule": in deciding between undefeated teams, last year's playoff results can be used (adopted right after undefeated defending national champion UWW had to go on the road to likewise undefeated NCC for a third round game).  Last year UMHB played in the semifinals; UWW didn't make it into the postseason.

I'm guessing you are right. I don't think most UW-W fans had a huge problem with the seeding. Technically, I think that rule is to be considered if the other criteria are pretty equal. But on the whole, I think it is good to consider the past season(s).  My biggest issue with it wasn't the competitive disadvantage or that UMHB didn't deserve it as much as UW-W. My biggest problem was that I knew I couldn't make the trip to Belton this weekend!  :)

Whatever the location, I haven't seen the professional noun fix anywhere. Hmmm, a dropped TD pass and a field goal from the three..... 8-)
