Steve Davis will be missed by all.....A true Wildcat that lived with some pretty special values, EVERYDAY. I will never forget the drive up to the Pine Bowl, thanks for that special memory!
Ironically, the only people still scared of this virus, are the vaccinated.

What happen Swede ?

A pillar of the Linfield and McMinnville community, Steve Davis, passed away yesterday at the age of 63.  Steve died due to complications arising from the treatment of leukemia that he was diagnosed with last year.

Steve was about as selfless of a person you could find, always in the background getting things done for Linfield, and never looking to be glorified for it.  A great family man and person that is going to be missed by so many people.  RIP Steve.

Thoughts and prayers from the PLU community. Sounds like Steve was a wonderful person.

Steve Davis was a student in the first class I ever taught at Linfield (Fall Semester 1970). He was bright, fun to be around, and even then was mature beyond his years. What began as a student-faculty relationship blossomed into a 43-year continuing friendship even though I lived most of that time in a different state. It was always a thrill to see and talk with Steve at Homecoming or during the summer when I visited McMinnville. Words simply can't convey the respect and admiration I always had for Steve and his dedication and commitment to everything Linfield. No task was ever "beneath him" if it contributed to the advancement of Linfield. He was continuously involved in advancing Linfield for all the years I knew him.

Steve was one of the "good guys" in the way he lived. Always contributing more than his share of the effort and always taking less that his share of the credit. (Seemingly, he seldom allowed himself to take any credit.) I always respected that and am a better person for the lessons Steve taught me. I was stunned to learn of his leukemia late last Summer and prayed that it would be of the curable or survivable variety. My heart goes out to Marilyn, the children and his extended family.

Rest in Peace, my Friend.

Well said, OCP, and he was the leading scorer on that 1970 football team.

2:25 mark...pop up dummies and sleds?  I thought you can't use those devices in the spring time for D3?

update:  here it is...

Bylaw 17.9.6.1 – Exception. An institution is permitted to conduct conditioning and strength training sessions and limited skill instruction during a consecutive five-week period outside the playing season. … Skill instruction during this period shall be limited to passing, catching and kicking-related drills. Such instruction may include offensive and defensive alignments, but may not involve contact. Except for footballs and hand shields, the use of helmets, pads, blocking sleds or any other form of sport-related equipment is prohibited. The use of hand shields shall be limited to one-on-one and two-on-two skill instruction. No missed class time is permitted for these sessions and the institution shall conclude all athletically related activities by the first date of final examinations for the regular academic year.

...Gotta play by the rules Rats...

The contact thing is a very grey area.  I think if you ask what contact is to 10 different coaches, you'll get 10 different answers.  WR's getting off press coverage at the line, DL doing various leverage/out of stance drills, team/skelly periods where you stop on contact.  To me those are fine (the contact shown in the Whitworth story was fine to me also).   But the using sleds/pop-up dummies/contact devices seem like a pretty straight forward directive.

I like Sandberg and think he's going to make Whitworth a yearly contender again...but I couldn't pass on the chance to give the Rats grief.

I hope the NCAA really brings the hammer down. I'm talking loss of scholarships, at least 9 over 3 years. 2 year bowl ban as well.

Haven't the Whitworth fans and players been punished enough?   ;D

So any word on Wildcat recruits for this year?  Are we going to get anything on the incoming Cats like we have in the past season?  I've always enjoyed that info! :)

There won't be a huge video like the past two season but each bio will have a link to their footage.  Program is closing on a few more guys but it's going to be another strong class for the 'Cats.
