Pacific dropped to College of Idaho today 35-34.  Yikes.

Andy Jamison - Walla Walla Wildcat

Went to GF game... Hard fought loss... The crowd was amazing! The student section was packed and rocking... The Bruins have some good pieces to work with... Ex-Cat john Schaefer started at rb and did a good job... I can understand him leaving Linfield to be the man for his high school coach... I don't know how much pt he would have gotten this year as compared to what he'll get there

George Fox goes down 30-27

Positive's the Bruins QB CAN go deep as well as scramble
the 277 lb fullback is their punter and he can boom them.
Jon Shaeffer's a big plus at RB

Neg's     Dropped passes
             D looked pretty porous
             O line can't block
Place kicking was terrible-they hit the short field goals and they win
One  O player lost his helmet three times. One cost the Bruins a TD
             missed tackles

I hated to see them lose but they'll learn from this. Even when GF was down 30-18 late in the fourth quarter they didn't give up. came up with a safety got the ball back and scored. AC ran out the clock.

Very loud crowd and a big one. They took a count and somewhere around 3500. The video board is awesome.

I saw a drone just like Wildcat11's. Not sure that wasn't #11

Yes my friend. The crowd and experience was top notch. Schaefer had to make most of those yards. Think what he would have done if he got any blocking.  Next time I wear ear plugs....my ears are still ringing.

Totally unexpected!

I went to both the Pacific and GF game ...1st half Pacific 2nd half of GF.

Schafer didn't do much that I saw, in fact he fumbled at a critical time in the game when GF was in scoring position inside the 10 yard line at the end of the game. I guess he thought by going to GF he'd get more playing time...but unfortunately GF O-Line is pretty weak.

My biggest question was...why do they constantly (on every play) blast music over the PA System right up to the point of the ball being snapped? And I mean loud....and that's when either team had the ball. I guess they don't realize the concept of audibles and instructions that may need to be communicated before the ball is snapped. I wouldn't put up with it if I was a coach.

Anyway both Pacific and GF screwed me on the pickem board.  >:(

College of Idaho was a good team...they had very good skill players on offense and their O-Line was very big and good....mostly freshman also. They looked more like a D2 team in size. They had a real workhorse tailback, tall receivers and their QB had size and was a dual threat.

I watched what I could on video feeds.
1.  Whitworth's new uniforms are awful but the new offense is a definite improvement.  Lewis and Clark may be really really bad this year
2.  Puget Sound played solid defense (but that may the result of CMS being a weak team) but their offense has a lot to work on--especially if the injury to their Sr. QB keeps him out for any length if time.
3.  George Fox did pretty well for a first game in their first season back.  If ACU was playing their first game as well the results may have been different.
4.  Pacific lost but since they had no free broadcast that I could find (audio link kept sending me to the pay $12 video feed) and the live stats were still the final from the linfield game last season....I have no idea what happened or what to expect moving forward.

I got screwed on those picks as well :( goodthing Monrovia Cat didn't listen to me :D. Schafer did well in the 1st half but AC made some adjustments and pretty much stopped him the 2nd, not having an O line really hurt.
I was in the grandstand and the music actually hurt my ears. The people sitting around me were complaining as well.  Att. was 3659 which was about 1500 more than I anticipated. The student section really got into the game,  all and all I thought it was well done.

Don't think GF beating Lewis and Clark would be an upset. Perhaps the Pioneers should kill the FB program and bring it back the way Pacific and GF did. I can only see the pios getting worse.

The local McMinnville fish wrapper (The News Register) continued it's odd fascination with GFU by writing another 3 page article on the Bruin football team in the Friday addition...... highlighting it's upcoming opponent Arizona Christian and listing all the starters and probable back-ups, quotes from the coach, etc.

In the same paper they also had a little approx. 1 square inch article about the upcoming Linfield scrimmage. I haven't seen a comprehensive article about this years Linfield football team yet. Pretty sure this will all be settled on the field soon.

Very strange.......  ::)

Game Week! In my backyard too!   8-)

swede...I trust you'll be bringing up close and personal reports from the Quaking Quakers basketball and baseball season as well? We can't rely on the News Register all the time.
