Redlands may be good.  :o

lolololol...you aren't serious right?

I watched parts of the Linfield game. D-line played like a group with a lot of talent/potential that was young/inexperienced. They got great pressure on the Chapman QB at times and didn't allow the Chapman OL to move them off the line, but they would miss an assignment and get gashed on the run.

The QB play has to be better if they want to beat PLU, because today's Lutes would put up points on today's Linfield and I don't think the Wildcats O could keep up.

Chapman didn't have to do much on D, but they were better than I thought they'd be. It's tough to tell how good/bad Redlands is since they went to Belton and got monkey stomped as predicted. I think Redlands, Chapman and Cal Lu will come down to some sort of tie-breaker. Oxy apparently isn't that good (I don't think they actually fielded 11 defenders against UPS), so I don't see anyone beating those 3 other than each other.

UPS should seriously consider onside kicks for every kickoff. L&C should consider saving the University money and move to a purely volunteer coaching staff. Wouldn't change anything.

Willamette took care of business. Trinity isn't a world beater but they have some talent and the new Bearkittens really stepped up and had a good game.

Glad Whitworth gets one more bad SCIAC opponent to iron out some wrinkles before Chapman. Still don't think they'll have the line play to hang with Linfield or PLU but a 3rd place finish in the NWC is realistic.

CU had opportunities, but a tough defense and some big plays pushed LC to victory.
Congrads to LC, you earned and deserved it! Good luck the rest of the way. You have a very good team that will only get better.

I was very impressed with the large LC following. Your crowd knows the game and were very
well behaved.

It was nice seeing Dennis again and meeting a whole group of fellow posters. You all seem very nice, and are great fans. Hope to see you all again up there next year. It is good putting a face
behind the names and writings.

As for CU, I think they learned a lot tonight.
Was nice to meet you Dahlby-sorry I wasn't more chatty but I didn't want the video of the game to have too much conversation :)  Chapman has a good team....the SCIAC could get interesting (as usual) this year.
Go Cats!

I'm home from my Southern California trip. A thoughts for what they are worth. Whitworth had the opportunity to put Whittier away and couldn't. Up 23-0 the Rats let Whittier get back as close as 23-17. The Pirates even had a first and goal and could not punch it in, including two tries from the one. The Poets are a spirited team and did not back down despite giving up a safety and having a punt blocked on their first two possessions. Whittier will not win the SCIAC, but will definitely make the top tier teams work for the wins. The weather was oppressively hot (two spectators were taken by ambulance) and I wonder if that affected one team more than another. It had to have been miserable for both sides, the Poets in all black uniforms and Whitworth with black pants and helmets.

In game two, the Chapman Panthers have a very good football team. First game jitters and new starters showed for the Wildcats. The Cats defense settled down in the second half and held the stable of Panther running backs in check. The Cats receivers mishandled a few passes but credit should be given to the Chapman DBs who played pretty well. Look for the Cats to fix things for Redlands. I would love to see the Chapman - Redlands game. It should be a barn burner. I enjoyed the facilities at Chapman. The atmosphere and enthusiasm of both sides made for a great evening.

Gig Harbor Cat

Pretty impressed with this years Cats.  The O line and D Line are very strong.  Once we settled in in the 3rd it was a great game to watch.
Will be catching a flight down again with Wildcat 11 this weekend for the Redlands game.

Should be a dandy.

Early call is Cats by 14
Phone it in Boys

Ryan,
Thanks so much.....bill me later ;D ;D ;D
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

My thought is that except for two very untimely penalties...Linfield's defense might just have kept Chapman scoreless....

exactly.  Or at least the two scoring drives they had would not have happened....
Go Cats!

....no local DIII afternoon games this weekend....guess I'll be heading to Western Oregon vs. Central Washington in Monmouth at 1 pm.

Can't wait to see what Linfield has worked on this week. Would like to see a better running attack to open up the passing game.
