Newb Cat supporter here.. i have question from long-timers Cat supporters about cat home game video feed?
How long have they been charging for this? I don't see other D3 programs charging for there fees and
man I know they are not doing anything to make it better than other D3 football game feeds. I would rank it as
one of the worst as I try to follow son playing over past 3 yrs.thx for feedback.GO Cats

They've been charging for as long as they've had streaming video. They are not the only one charging for live video but the list is not particularly long. Some schools use a model where you get an SD feed for free and charge for an HD feed.

They've always charged since they've started to provide the video stream as an option. $12 is the cost of a ticket under the grandstand and why they charge the amount to stream from the comfort of your home.

The SID department has worked hard on improving the product and have added another camera, software, and the continual graphics this year (that costs a sizable chunk of money). The people that run the game feed are volunteers to the program so do so out of wanting to help out Linfield. I can't speak on the quality of the video compared to other games but I know the SID department is trying do their best with limited resources.

The feed for all home PLU games is free (...to listen...which is your only option).  :-[

It is sad that the Linfield live stream video lacks in quality.  They could upgrade the quality of their production with the right group of volunteers using the existing equipment dedicated to live streaming only.  Beyond that they need better equipment and MUCH better placement of their cameras.  In the meantime, at least we get to watch "something" and I am willing to ante up the 12 bucks.....However, it might be worth experimenting to see if they get more viewers if they lower the price.
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

I wouldn't know how to find Stretch count but you have to figure heavy duty d3 fans - like MonroviaCat - would tune in  from east of the Rockies if LINFIELD's games were, oh, free.

I seem to recollect they were free when they first started.

Case Western had a great feed for their LINFIELD match last year. It can be done, especially for an elite program.   ;D

As somebody who watches a lot of the streamed games on Saturdays I can confirm that the Linfield stream is worse than most as far as the fidelity of the picture goes.  And it seems to me this has gotten worse this year.  I'm not sure if it is an equipment issue or a bandwidth issue or what but the picture lacks clarity and often appears a little blurry.  That coupled with the inconsistent ability to even get the stream via Stretch Internet has really sucked this year.....  Nonetheless, I don't doubt that the volunteers and SID are doing the best with what they've got but there is a lot of room for improvement.....also, for what it's worth--I'd trade the replays and graphics and other bells and whistles for a clear picture.

well i would agree Linfields video is by far the worst. I can hardly make out jersey numbers on my macbook. Forget trying to blow up video onto a 4o in plasma. But as a parent out of state..Its all I got. Sad as it is...
