On a different topic - I'd like to throw out a prediction that in 2019 the NWC will have 4-6 teams ranked in the Top 25 at some point during the season.  They include:

Linfield
Pacific
PLU
George Fox
Whitworth
Willamette

We could easily have 3 teams ranked all year next year in Linfield, PLU, and Pacific. Willamette will be close depending on how much they improve from this year.  Whitworth is more than likely 2-3 years away.  GF is probably 2018 at the earliest before they are established (figure 2014 = year 1 2015- 2 2016 3 2017- 4 2018- 5 2019- 6.

One problem that I can see come out of that will be an even greater reluctance to play NWC teams from other conferences.

It'll be like the conference was in the late 90's early 2000's when Linfield, PLU, Willamette, and Whitworth were are strong programs.

Take care of the rock and we move on to another road game easily. What can I say the glass is always half full at my place.

Congratulations to Linfield for the big win at Mary Hardin Baylor.

Please destroy Widener.  Surprised you are the ones traveling.

I suspect that Linfield will do a number on Widener, and Wesley do one on Hobart.  Amazingly, the two who may have the most trouble are UMU (against JCU) and UWW (against Wartburg).  There just might be some new faces in Salem this year (though if I were voting this week, UWW and UMU would still be #1 and #2, respectively)!

Widener looks to be very formidable. Plus Linfield is on the road again. I looked at their roster and their O-Line is huge. They also have a very good qb and very good receivers (one All American). Their d-line is very good too.

Mr. Ypsi

True on Widener, and (by Liberty League standards) Hobart is also a freak of nature.  Nonetheless, I think Linfield and Wesley will both prevail easily, perhaps by monkey-stomp standards.  UMU-JCU and UWW-Wartburg both look like nail-biters to me.

I noticed this tidbit on Widener's football site. Looks like they are quick starters coming out of the locker room. The Cat's better have their chin straps fastened and ready to go when the 1st and 3rd periods start. Probably wouldn't hurt to have the same be true during all portions of the game. ;D

I notice that in Widener's second round win over Christopher Newport that they were 2 for 2 on fourth downs. Wonder if either of those were fake punts. :o

According to box score, no fake punt(s).

Maybe I'm missing something, but the box score doesn't appear to indicate fake punts. For example, in our UMHB game, the box score reports that UMHB was 4 for 4 on fourth down conversions...but three of those were successful fake punts. How did you determine there were no fake punts in the Widener/Chris Newport game? (Always trying to learn. Thanks.)

If you look at the box score for 4th down plays, you will notice that the punter was not involved in the play. I am assuming that the QB is
not on the field for 4th downs to handle a direct snap on the 4th down.

Getz rush.
and Klein (QB) pass to Davis.
Punter was Bennett.
