If only more Midwest teams could see us play.

Quote from: George Thompson on December 21, 2014, 08:46:25 PMIt doesn't seem to me we should be playing any non-conference D-3 teams.

You do understand these statements, which come in consecutive sentences, contradict each other, right?

LOL!

I would love to see Linfield play Mount Union. One or the other always loses before the matchup.

Great comment Pat. I was thinking along similar lines. I'm not sure if Linfield could have beat MUC but I sure was hoping we'd find out...... Unfortunately we ran into a very talented and great UWW Team.....I thought for sure we were going to drive down and score with an extra point. We're gearing up for next year!

Come on, George. We started out d3 ranking #4, had a run, a burp, a run, and ended up #3. Only playing Division III helps us and our opponent. We took years to get rid of non Division III teams.

PC...the "one" is LINFIELD. The Hail Mary by UMHB in 2004 stopped the MUC / LINFIELD natural match up.

Perhaps a donor ( and LINFIELD lost two of their best this year) from each school will contribute to pay for the ONE non-conference game UMU has every year and the first game of the season can be a home and home. No? Then just win.

Yes, that's the one time Mount Union has lost and scuttled a Mount Union-Linfield game, but Linfield did so this year, and in 2009, right before the potential matchup. And in other years they've been in line to but have lost earlier in the bracket. That's what I'm getting at.

We gotta get you guys together. Mount Union's next open date is 2020 or so, so it'll have to be in December sometime.

And how many starters do we have returning next  year?
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

How many players are competing for a position? We played three deep at some positions this year and 'starter' is starting to look passe'.

Well said--we are going to be a little thin at QB (Riddle and maybe Knecht are the only guys left) unless we get some good freshman (or transfers) coming in....it would seem we have quite a bunch of guys at most other positions with plenty of playing time for many of them....no?

UWW will again be loaded next year but still beatable. Mt. Union will be very strong but may not get the auto. Linfield will be in the thick of it again.

Dunno who you think is going to beat Mount Union in the OAC. John Carroll's stud quarterback graduates. They haven't been competitive since 2002, when the current coach was the stud quarterback. They probably won't need a decade to find the next one, but that doesn't mean they have someone ready to come beat Mount.

Best wishes for the Holidays to all you NWC fans. May Santa bring you all the position players you need. I have enjoyed all the NWC
posts this year, as the SCIAC board postings were limited to just a few posters.

I look forward to hosting Whitworth next year and traveling up to LC next year.

The  'Cats had AN OUTSTANDING YEAR, congrads. The 3rd place ranking was well deserved!
