CORTEZ THE AZTECS
I like it; very witty. But I'm sure you'd have to explain it even more often now-a-days (sadly). "That's an app, right? A version of Angry Birds maybe?"  ;)

Funny if you made anything that said  ;D that now you would be crucified on Facebook for it and the Aztecs would be protesting outside your house.

Does anyone else feel like they'd benefit from a D O.C. translator at times? Snarky curmudgeon can be a difficult language to understand.

+K

I do, that is need a translator sometimes.  And should I admit I don't get the Cortez the Aztecs comment?

Cortez was the Conquistador who conquered the Aztec empire.

It's OK. It's OK. We're all here to stay.

The pep club in my high school used to make up ribbons to sell the week of a football game and one year I badgered and badgered them to put CORTEZ THE AZTECS (La Quinta H.S.) for the upcoming game.
Then I had to explain it to many people as the club made me sell them.
Geesh.

Snark....errrr Doc: l didn't know you were a Blackhawks fan!

Read the story and I'm rooting for her success.  Best of luck Annika (...just not against Linfield).

I noticed on the roster she's the only player that doesn't have his/her weight listed. As the story says, "she's one of the guys".....with a few expections I guess.

Hopefully it works out for her on the footbal field, it's a good story.

Right, I just found it funny. I'm guessing the athletic department was just being courteous.

Nice review WC...I have a couple different takes on Chapman than you.

I think Chapman wants to grind it out, They will want to keep your offense off the field and control the clock. I expect a lot of handoffs to their stud RB. Chapman blocks their zone read in a few different ways. One way, they wont double team some times and try to cut back and let their line wash out the d line. Your backers will need to active and get off the blocks. It will be interesting how they attack or avoid Hoff.

I think LF will beat Chapman by 20. Anything less is a moral victory for Chapman. I think UR has a better chance of giving LF a game this year, given our defense is better (more depth too)  than last year in spite of a rough camp on many players...I will let the scouts figure out that one. If UR's O line can block this game, instead of look out blocks, they can avoid a 20+ loss. It drove me crazy to see the RB or TE never help on #55.

These are good preseason games for LF, their first team gets tested but can be rested in the fourth quarter..

Less than two more years of Gavin.

Awesome!

I do have to question this, though:
QuoteFor a while, Smith-Ortiz played on the offensive line and everyone was too afraid to tackle her.

I mean, o-linemen do their share of tackling, but why on earth would anyone tackle an offensive lineman (or is it lineperson)?

A tradition unrivaled...

The author is a female PLU student, who likely doesn't cover sports very often. That line doesn't quite make sense, but the article is relatively well written otherwise.

Geez, Smith-Ortiz is planning on ROTC and medical school and even rode a bike across the US a couple summers ago (over 3,000 miles). I'm rooting for her as well - cool story. Very few college freshmen have those kind of balls.
