Anyone else having trouble accessing the audio feed for the Linfield-Redlands game?
I keep getting please, wait?   Any suggestions?

I couldn't get it to work either so I am listening to the Redlands radio: http://www.kmet1490am.com/

Cats defense and special teams continues to look great. Offense has a ton of potential but are a work in progress.  Way too many dumb penalties and need to take care of the ball better.

However...if this team puts it all together...yikes, gonna be an incredibly dangerous team.

The JVs played Bellevue CC this afternoon at the CatDome. Was a pleasant day to see the youngsters get their opportunity to play. All the freshmen( except those that had meaningful playing time yesterday) got major minutes today. While the play was a little ragged at times, there is no question that there is a lot of talent in this freshman class. Final score was 30-21 for the JV Cats.

Frankly, it's amazing they did as well as they did in that the freshmen spend most of their practice time on the scout teams running the plays and defensive schemes of upcoming opponents. They appear to get little [if any] opportunity in practice to perfect the Wildcat plays and schemes. Congrats to a talented JV team mostly composed of freshman players.

Go Cats!

Ok a little take from WC's format

The Good: The Catdome is a pretty cool environment. It is the best environment in the NWC or SCIAC. One can see LF has tried to take their complex to the next level. It is easy to see LF is far more committed to athletics than the SCIAC. The closest thing the SCIAC has is Cal Lu. The people were very nice, and thanked us for coming out.
I thought the D line stopped run very well, Cats had to change personal upfront due to frustrations, despite missing two all conference players a DE and Mike backer. The d backs improved over the first game.  Defense had to defend too many short field. Defense was on the field for 50 football plays in the first half.

The Super Ugly:  Redland's o line. I don't care three starters are lost for the season. We are too big and slow, a quick d line  ate us up. Boys need to get into the best shape of their life, next weeks should be conditioning. Need to play quicker. We were exposed. Also on the ugly side is the LF Offensive line, way to many high lows and cheap shots. No place in the game for that stuff.

Summary, the game went as I thought it would. The down side was Redlands played missing 8 starters so I think we would have lost by 28 instead of 30 plus (haha), UR brought 42 freshman and sophs on the trip, they will improve. LF could win this division if they clean some areas up. Their special teams have to be the model program in D3. UR needs to get healthy as possible, if they want to return to the Catdome. Most likely 4 guys can find their way back, including our starting RB and top WR and KO returner who did not make the trip.

Dogs have three weeks to get ready for a hot CLU team.

After watching two games I get the sense that certain players at Linfield have been reading their press clippings a bit much.  Nothing that can't be solved if it is appropriately addressed.

I'm hoping that in the bye week the focus is on playing smarter football as we've had some seriously stupid penalties (such as a personal foul that nullified the Pick 6).  Guys need to be doing some serious bear crawls and if that doesn't work losing playing time.

The O-Line issues start with the center and I don't believe the guy we've had starting there is a true center.  From what I understand our #1 and #2 centers have been out with injuries.  Things went much smoother between the QB and Center once Pitassi took over in the first half.  The offense has a lot of room to improve and it starts with the snap and extends to the decision making of the QB.

The D looks solid.  Every now and again Redlands had a good play call against the defensive call but more often than not we had the right D for the play call.  I'm hoping that Hoff isn't trying to do too much.  We just need each guy to do their job and we'll have wicked D.

Any idea on a "season outlook" for the 'Cats given we are two weeks into said season?

Cats clean up and roll the conference. Boxers and Rats put up a good fight  PLU gives us a prep game for the playoffs at the end of the regular season.
