Optimism is healthy:

"The Loggers take on second-ranked Linfield next week in McMinnville,
Oregon, with a chance to tie for the conference lead."

Whitworth current SOS is 63 which his not to bad for a pool C......problem for them is they finish with Lewis and Clark and Willamette and SOS will take a big hit. Interesting to see Wednesday where they are in regional rankings.

they are going to need help from the committee (eg if La Verne cracks the rankings) otherwise there's no chance unless a bunch of other teams pick up second losses

I think they have a chance but your right in that they will need things to fall their way. If La Verne does crack the rankings that will help but their biggest problem with SOS is the two wins that L&C and Willamette have...boom goes the 63rd current SOS. With six C's available some second loses would be nice...but they aren't out of the conversation. 1st regional ranking might be their highest.

Whitworths only saving grace is that the committee doesn't function like the new CFP committee, who actually take 'game film' into account. I don't think that will matter this year with a bunch of very good, strong SOS, 1 loss teams (thanks UMHB and UWW), but in D3 it's mostly a numbers game. Regional wins, SOS, etc. The CFP committee would watch these games, notice that someone like North Central is better than Whitworth, and give them a spot despite the difference in W-L. In our system someone like NC has zero shot. I also don't think Whitworth would end up saving the committee any $$$ since the SCIAC sacrificial lamb has to be flown somewhere no matter what. Might as well send em up to Mac.

Would love to see Whitworth get in, but in the end all the losses racked up by PLU and Willamette out of conference will cost the NWC when it comes to pool C.

Carroll College (MT., NAIA) head coach is calling out DIII schools (Northwest Conference) and saying our conference should "man up" and schedule Frontier Conference teams.

Told him we're too busy manning up to play UMHB the next two years.  Go pound sand, Coach.

I actually like the idea, it would give the players an extra game. Plus it would be even more entertaining to see them lose. However, if it's anything like the UWW vs. Morningside, it would be fun... no problem with the call out, the WIAC was like the NWC a few years ago.

Wow...just wow.  The fact that he actually said, "Man up" is what gets me.  What does that even mean?  The NWC is just a bunch of kids that can't run with the big boys?  Just because the NWC isn't doing what he wants, he throws a fit, and tries to suggest that our schools are "afraid" to play his school....hilarious.

I notice they didn't bother to try to contact any NWC schools for the story.
