:)
No personalized duffel bag, no all you can eat buffet stops, no overnights at the Holli-Dome. Are the recruits told this?

Of course. They just get carefully folded and put away the second week in November. No unnecessary wear and tear needed!

So is it a forgone conclusion that LF will not be a #1 seed on any of the brackets from your guys experience the way the regions were laid out yesterday? If not, who would be? MU, ?,?,?...

No, it is not a forgone conclusion that Linfield will not be the top seed in one of the four brackets.

Thanks USEE for this link.  Good stuff to get some clarity in the decision making process!

Two things that I would please appreciate some poster input...I know you guys have something to say about this!

The primary selection criteria has six bullet points with a clear caveat that they are
"Not listed in priority order".  Why not?  I'm sure there's a reason but it does seem to put a subjective fog into the committees decisions.  Why can't the six points be considered in an order that reflects
Fair assessment of the teams..."Every time"??

The second thing I don't question (much) but does clarify that the site selection for the games has nothing to do with that home teams standing in the rankings.

I can't speak for certain on the first question but I think they wanted to leave room for flexibility which I think is needed (to a degree).  If for instance they put winning percentage as the highest priority, you could have a team that is undefeated but who beat nobody with a winning record ranked ahead of a team that had one loss to the defending national champion in overtime on a bad call.  On the other hand, if you prioritize wins over ranked opponent you might end up with a team that won a fluke game against a great team and then loss 2 to a couple of mediocre teams ranked over an undefeated team with a great SOS but no regionally ranked wins.....I think you get it from here?

As to your second question--the teams have to submit for home games (each round) and then the NCAA determines whether the site is appropriate (they have certain qualifications such as appropriate security....yada yada yada) to host.   A few years back, Linfield lost to Cal Lutheran in week 1 of the season and Cal Lu went undefeated while Linfield had the one loss record.  When the playoffs rolled around, the game was at Linfield because Cal Lu was still playing in their old stadium which did not meet the criteria for hosting a game.  While it may say the rankings have nothing to do with it, as far as I can remember, the higher seeded (though they claim not to seed the teams) typically gets the home game if their facility is deemed worthy.

Does this sound right to everybody?

Keep in mind that these regional rankings are put together by teams of 8 and then the at-large selections are made by another team of 8.  Each individual on those teams are free to interpret and apply the criteria in whatever way they see fit, the group votes on the teams under consideration, and teams are ranked or selected accordingly.  So what you wind up with, I think, is a pretty even application of criteria across the board when all is said and done.
