If any of you that feel like they have a good understanding and would like to write a guest post next week after the regional rankings come out and what it could possibly mean for Linfield, let me know.  I'm up for it.

Linfield will host LaVerne or Whitworth. Likely to host a Texas team after that. Then insert some other guesses and speculation. Good enough?

I think D nailed it.  Round 1 is pretty easy to predict for the Cats.  After that, it's probably a matchup against a Texas team (unless anything crazy happens the next two games).  The only real question is (in my mind):  Where is that 2nd round game played?

I think the "guest post" should probably be a primer (for people not reading these boards) on how the selection process actually works (e.g. the top 25 rankings have absolutely nothing to do with it and geography and $ have a big part in how brackets get arranged).....

Completely agree that the Rules; particularly the rules about selection need to be put forth in a simple, understandable way.  It seems like, even after several reminders, that the polls are thought to have significance in the consideration.
Another, already discussed, element of the playoff picture is site selection.  I think it would be easily misunderstood that team performance has no, or little bearing on game location.

You guys are giving Wildcat 11 way too much credit for doing the headcount at Fox.  It should have been pretty easy since they said NO UMBRELLAS !!!! At the gate. So the people were quite easy to count.  If umbrellas would have been allowed it would have complicated the count.  After all it was only raining like a cow pissing on a flat rock all day !!!   Everyone got soaked and they let us bring in umbrellas by the half--  Cost me my Iphone 6, and two change of clothes.  No biggie really--  Its just life on the road with the Catdome !!!

'Team performance' (Regional Ranking or whatever) is occasionally trumped by other factors when determining which team will host. But that's the exception - not the general rule. National title games are no longer played at the Tacoma Dome, Civic Stadium, or McMinnville HS.

Nope; I just missed that era and never played there. I did see one or two really bad concerts there though.

I think the 1993 regular season opener against Linfield was the last time PLU played there. Central Washington played Findlay there for the 1995 NAIA II title.

last time I was there was with 11.  And of all things we went to a WWF event.  It was crazy.  Im sure he remembers the details

I played in the first football game in the dome the year it opened in '83 (we beat UPS for the first time in years as they "dropped down" from NCAA d2 to NAIA d1)  There was nearly 14,000 fans at that game. We played there again that year when we lost the National Championship to Northwestern, Iowa.  The following year we played UPS there again to much smaller crowds and a cheap shot block that took out my acl and the rest of my senior year.  But I did see an awesome concert there.  Bruce Spingsteen "Born in the USA" tour.

I call that 2-2. Two really good memories, two really bad ones.

Looks like it is calling for rain all during the game in Mac this weekend. Hoping to see the 'Cats offense rebound and come out firing.

Also, I want to give a quick shoutout to the sophomore linebackers that have been flying around this year. Farlow, Kekel, and Reimer have been tearing it up and I think they have a chance to be very special in the coming years.
