Best wishes to FarAwayCat and his bride-to-be. If you've picked the right person you should have many decades of marital bliss. I've been outrageously fortunate in this regard [52 years and counting]. I sincerely hope that you will be too. :)

+1; I can relate.  It's amazing if you've found the right partner.  Congrats and best wishes.  Unfortunately RFB's experience is more and more common (and I'm glad he is free and happy now), but don't dwell on that for a minute.

Getting back to football already (geez), the 'Cats running game may prove to be a nice asset in the coming weeks.  Your backs seem to have tiger blood and Adonis DNA.

New rape allegation and lawsuit at Pacific involving athletes (and a coach possibly hosted the party):

Just ignore if you aren't interested.  Since Pacific played UD, that should be close enough to 'on-topic'.  ;)

I am fascinated by any dirt that hits the face of an NWC foe thanks for the info D. I thought I smelled a different stench than the score when we played those guy's.

Cops around campus in Spokane never gave out MIPs...Forest Grove sounds like a terrible place

Oh, and Linfield is still better than Whitworth. Should win comfortably. Despite what I expect the final score to be, making the playoffs period in year 2 is fantastic for the Whitworth program.

I disagree with the gentleman who said it's going to take a power running game to beat Linfield, though. Whitworth's offense (and any spread attack for that matter) could do just fine against Linfield's D. Plenty of ways to neutralize Hoff with a quick passing game, screens, and optioning off of him. Springfield is going to run a lot and possess the ball if you guys play them in round 2...but they won't win because of it. What you need a defense that can hold Linfield to ~3 TDs. Linfield is capable of hurting themselves on offense (the defense really seems bulletproof) with bad turnovers at bad times, but you have to be able to keep them from scoring the rest of the game. Something that nobody in the NWC has the talent to do. I can name a few teams who would though.

I too bet a lot of money Whitworth has been prepping Linfield for 2 weeks. Every program in the NWC has practiced for 2 different opponents during L&C week as of late...

This.  Sandberg had to know they had a great shot of getting in and I'm sure they put in extra time over the past two weeks on the 'Cats. That's fine and I'm not complaining but what Rat said is accurate.

ADvantage 'Catdome 'Cats Win!!! Linfield first half surge leads to 38-10 victory over PLU

Sorry, I can't agree. I think it's a black mark that touches all small college sports programs in the Northwest. I'm sorry this happened to the young lady and I'm sorry that a young man made a huge error...both under the influence. The impact on the one was immediately horrific and likely continues. The impact on the other [when the  legal process is complete] will likely also be devastating. It's a sad day all around that this happened and has the unfortunate consequence of reflecting badly (in the public mind) on the integrity and character of NWC schools and athletes.

Boy o boy...there's a lot left to this thing!  It's so chilling to me, how quickly the press and those that are not that affectionate to an accused ((Pacific U.) jump up and point the finger.  Look everyone...just look at what happened there!!!  Does anyone that is coming forward know much yet?
"There's an accusation of wrong doing...blood in the water, everybody look!"
Be careful people...that's just the beginning of the demonization.
Take a breath!
Tonight's Portlands KPTV 12 opened their news lead with this story which involved THE Pacific basketball coach of hosting a party that started this sequence of events.  Ok...later, when they ran the story they referred to the coach as an assistant.....etc. "Not accused of wrong doing,"
The young man involved..."Not currently a student, not accused of wrong dong!"
Please, dig deep and understand what the media puts out front is the hook....
And by the way...is the accusation to the deep pocket of the accused enough to generate a ROI for the litigant??  So, the University is at fault....$$$$$$$$$$$

Not necessarily fully accurate.  "We do so love a train wreck..."

.... I know they cut the rosters for the playoffs to like 58. I was wondering how many other players can practice besides that?

I don't know about the NCAA but back in the day, in the NAIA, the playoff roster was 42, but we all got to practice.

The whole town can practice....58 can dress!  (I think?)

Everyone can practice for the first four rounds. For the Stagg Bowl, only 58 can practice in Salem.

Pat, that leads me to ask... How early in the week do teams usually head for Salem.  Just curious.
