Not sure how gren's quote above got attributed to me. I just posted the Oregonian link without commentary. However, I agree with later posters that this problem/incident is hardly unique to Pacific. The young man's social media postings are pretty damning, but I'm sure there are many angles to this story. I've seen the lawyer's name numerous times in Portland controversies (suing the Police Bureau a few times, etc.).

Everyone can practice for the first four rounds. For the Stagg Bowl, only 58 can practice in Salem.

Pat, that leads me to ask... How early in the week do teams usually head for Salem.  Just curious.

When the game is on Friday, they generally arrive late Tuesday, IIRC.

For the top teams 58 leaves many seasoned veterans home.

I am fascinated by any dirt that hits the face of an NWC foe thanks for the info D. I thought I smelled a different stench than the score when we played those guy's.

Sorry, I can't agree. I think it's a black mark that touches all small college sports programs in the Northwest. I'm sorry this happened to the young lady and I'm sorry that a young man made a huge error...both under the influence. The impact on the one was immediately horrific and likely continues. The impact on the other [when the  legal process is complete] will likely also be devastating. It's a sad day all around that this happened and has the unfortunate consequence of reflecting badly (in the public mind) on the integrity and character of NWC schools and athletes.
An attempt at humor on a humorless board. :'(

The teams are allowed to have a few extra players from which to select the official game roster.  I'm thinking that it might be four or five extra.  These players can dress and warm up with the team prior to game.  At some point prior to the game the team has to submit it's official roster.  At that point the extra players must cease practicing and become inactive and have to be in street clothes.  Also a team's roster can change from week to week.

I was one of those extras in SJU's 2000 run to the Stagg.

I'm thinking I saw an article last week listing the worst 25 colleges in America for getting your monies worth out of your diploma and Lewis & Clark was amongst those 25.

I saw that as well and L&C was on there.  I was surprised how many D3 schools were on it and how little the graduates make on average.
