Don't let pat and his 'fortunate circumstances' bring us down...that was the best win at maxwell field in decades. The team fought when they didn't have to, Tommy Ice kept slinging if, and fun was had by all. Great win. We all need a night to enjoy it.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Don't let anyone take away that this win was earned by an outstanding group of young men who needed our support.

Oh, that is the truth. Perhaps if Keith would have made his pronouncement next week...

But! congratulations to you and Ryan.

Silly me, because I now wonder what happens to Sam Riddle in your votes for post season honors seeing how he's 6 quarters behind other Qbs. (and a junior which always leaves wiggle room  :) )

Won't have any impact on our decisions, really. All-Region is based on regular season almost exclusively and it's not like Linfield lost in the first round. We've seen a good amount of him this season.

I thought if I said "luck" that it would be taken even worse but I guess it's damned if I do, damned if I don't.

And let's mention the 2 turnovers on TIPPED passes the tremendous UMHB athletes came up with.

I can't think how 'fortunate circumstances' for a totally unforced turnover (snap way over the qb's head) could possibly be interpreted by even the most rabid fan as a slur on their defense.  Aside from great hustle by Hoff to recover the ball, the defense had nothing to do with that turnover.

So are all turnovers luck ?  For those interested UMHB took a 21-0 lead in the first 7:51 of the game...Linfield had a whole bunch of luck the next 52.09 to out score the Cru 38 to 14.

Wildcat64 I see you must have gotten bored dispensing karma so decided to return to ground zero and build it up again.  I'll give you some karma as best I can but hope to see you back up to the magic 200 posts ASAP so you're back to full Karma Restoration.

The fumble itself had nothing whatsoever to do with the defense.  The recovery by Linfield was due to great hustle.

While obviously an imperfect science, I try to distinguish between 'takeaways' and 'giveaways' - that one was certainly primarily a giveaway.

Well, that was interesting.

Nice call on predicting the outcome, Wildcat 11.

As my attorney would note, "We don't know if someone on the defense might have yelled at the center and distracted him. We do not have all the information yet. We can't rule out the giveaway being caused by the defense."

The statement was "you guys needed an unfortunate circumstance to win the game".
Is that true?  Did Linfield need that circumstance to win the game?
I reckon you're right there wasn't a specific, single act the defense performed to cause the bad snap.  However, over the course of a season, and over decades of building a program with a winning reputation, Linfield creates an atmosphere that opposing players must execute within.  There is elevated pressure because of that.  And there is elevated pressure in the playoffs.  Championship caliber players will handle that pressure better, that's part of being a better team, imo.

Instead of giving credit, place blame on the umhb center for snapping the ball 30 yards to far. But, I'll give myself credit, because my yelling (perfectly timed), made him do it
