I can't imagine either of the remaining three teams have anywhere near MHB's speed. Speed scares me way more than size and we get the opportunity to see the difference firsthand against the Tommies as I doubt that they have the elite level of team speed showed by the Cru.

A wise coach once said that you cannot coach speed.   ;)

Oh, this one hurts.

You know how it hurts when the team your rooting for is representing the conference, and you don't have much emotional tie-in to the team, but it makes your guys look better.  After all, there are way too few head-to-head comparisions of the teams in this part of the country (and the Pacific Northwest) to "educate" the rest of the country.

(You could have scouted HSU in their game with Willamette for some assessment of the ASC.)

Well, it is agonizing to see another team carrying your colors and then fall short again.

No doubt about it now....."The West is Best" when3 out of 4 in the "Final Four" are in  the West Region

Welcome D Chicks,

I'm guessing you're related to Chuck Chicks.  That gets you extra karma points. You just got 1 more.

Those of you WILDCAT backers who don't really read the front page articles, let alone the discussions, might find this take interesting.
It's part of a discussion about MU and University of Wisconsin at Whitewater being put in the same bracket. The discussion follows the latest recap page of yesterday's games.

I'm not so sure no one would have beat Mt. Union other than UW-W the last couple of years. This is why I say this.

From what I've seen the last few years, I think Linfield should have been on the same side of the bracket as Mt. Union and away from UW-W. The reason being is this:

In 2013, Linfeld lost to UW-W 28-17 on the road, after jumping out to a 17 point lead. UMHB lost to UW-W 16-15 and I thought outplayed them. But Mt. Union lost to UW-W that year 52-14 on a neutral site.

In 2014, Wartburg lost to UW-W by 4 on the road and led at one point 33-16 late in the 3rd quarter until losing their starting QB. Linfield lost to UW-W by 6 on the road and almost won at the end. Mt. Union lost to UW-W by 9 on a neutral field.

Even in 2009, Linfield lost to UW-W by 10 on the road. The Wildcats also beat UMHB by 32 that season. Mt. Union lost to UW-W by 10 on a neutral site.

So basically, the last 3 years both Linfield and Mt. Union played UW-W, Linfield has played them the same one year and closer the other two years. And all three of their described losses were games against the Warhawks on the road, whereas Mt. Union has played them on a neutral site. If not for UW-W, or if Linfield had just been on the other side of the bracket, I don't think it's a reach to say we may have had a different rep in the Stagg at least one or more of those seasons.

CamCat, yes, Chuck is my dad, how do you know him?
He lives a bit far away to make many games, but he often makes one in early November.

I've spent the last 24 hours pondering where Saturday's game ranks among the best I've ever seen in any sport, at any level. For Linfield games, I like George Thompson's list, posted earlier:

1984 - NAIA National Championship comeback from 22-0 down in 3rd Qtr. to win!

2003 - At Ashland, vs. Southern Oregon, umpteen lead changes and we score a winning TD pass in the last minute to win

2004 - Stagg Bowl win in last part of 4th Qtr.

2005 - The Game. Unfortunately a loss vs WWW.

2015 - Yesterday's roller coaster ride with MHB.

I'd add a few Wildcat games I either witnessed or listened to:

1985 vs. Willamette - down 33-7 well into in the second half before winning 36-33

1988 vs. Pacific Lutheran, when they'd won a ton of games in a row - down 24-7 early, got close, fell behind by 10 or 14 again in the second half, and finally won 35-33

2001 at Menlo - down 27-9 after 3 quarters and won 30-27

As for Saturday, I've also talked to more than one person who is thanking Bill Johnson's unseen hand for carrying those snaps over the UMHB quarterback's head.

On to St. Paul ...

I thought it was parker helping with the snaps as it was tied 35-35! :)

That's the nice thing about this round -- the games are staggered so one person can watch both. Love it.
With sunset at 4:30 and temps possibly dropping below freezing, I'd rather be at the early game.  Also, if it's not cloudy the sun will likely be in someone's eyes now that the sun is lower in the sky?  Probably give the advantage to UST and their ground game if the passing game is hurt by these conditions.

Please add 16-7 over University of Hawaii, 1967.

STU will be the best team we have ever faced this year.  ???

Hope not!

Those of you at Saturday's game knew with your eyes that when UMHB called the first time out before Metter's field goal attempt that Hoff snapped the ball anyway, Knecht spotted it and Metter's practice kick was good.
We at home did not get to see the fun but Dave Hansen laughed in mentioning it.

Gotta love this team.  :D

and how was it that MHB called two time outs in a row (that's what happened right?).  I didn't think that was possible for one team to call consecutive time outs.

That's legal on Saturdays, not on Sundays.

I asked a poster we 're not familiar with who came on the updates board if he would look it up because he was critical of the UMHB calls.
He did. He answered MIAC.
