Cat,

Did LF ever take on any D2 or 1AA schools say 15 to 20 years ago....and how about when they were NAIA, did they do the same and offer any scholarship money back when they played NAIA D2 ?

PLU was pretty good too back then, did they ever play up too?

thanks

I don't recall any NWC-1AA matchups. I remember Willamette playing Humboldt once or twice around '99. Linfield played (and crushed) WOU well after they'd moved up to D2. Other than that, I'd mostly say just NAIA teams (Whitworth vs. Montana Tech. and/or Western Montana, Linfield vs. Southern Oregon, PLU vs. SOU and Azusa).

'Scholarships' were one of the things that separated NAIA's Div 1 and 2 - and the NWC may have taken those rules even a bit further (like the SCIAC does with a 9-game limit). We had a handful of guys each year who's financial aid package contained a modest football talent award, but that's about it (and it's likely that need would have been filled in other ways).

The currently successful NAIA teams are run more like Div 1 teams were at the time. Many of those former Div 1 teams are now NCAA D2 (while former Div 2 teams were more likely to become NCAA D3 schools).

Nice catch! I totally forgot about that. I'd think that's about the only time.

Just for the fun of it let's go back a bit farther in THE STREAK...

1961 - LF 34  Chico State 7
1962 - tie 6-6
1962 - LF 39  Portland State 0
1963 - LF 14  Portland State 7
1964 - LF 42  U. of British Columbia 0
           LF 31  Portland Sate 0
1965 - LF 10  Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 7
1966 - uh oh LF 7  Cal Poly 22
1967 - LF 15- U. of Hawaii 13
then Hawaii rocked us twice and stole our head coach for Athletic Director.
We traded off wins with Portland State and Humbolt State in the 70s. Western Oregon when DIII in 2004-05, I believe. Yes, pounded them and then they were of no use to use on the SOS after they returned the favor.

UMHB put their schedule out:
9/17/2016 Linfield College   Belton, TX   TBA

So then I would assume that means we'll be opening the season up at home on the 10th vs Chapman then off to Belton.  Can't wait to go!

Nice job Cat, thanks for keeping UR down to just three clips.

Give us an update on Hoff and his professional aspirations when you get a chance.

yeah...a bunch of clips of guys walking it into the end zone from 3 yards out isn't very exciting so I didn't use very many Redlands clips.
